It’s the hope that kills

We dared to dream.

Sadly we failed to show up and make it contest. It was a case of when not if.

Our explosive winger was absent and the world's best striker had not even a sniff at goal.

Fed up with losing finals, semi finals and matches when it counts. Some of these players are just not good enough.

Bit harsh from some critics of Dele. Last 5 mins where we barely had a sniff of the ball.

There are improvements needed but this is not a squad being maximised by the manager. We were having our best spell of the match then took off our most creative mid on the pitch h and the only attacker running at them whilst leaving on son (who was beyond awful) and winks. We left our most creative mid on the bench throughout. We brought on sissoko and Dele but not Lamela. Mason has had an absolute mare in the second half
And who put Mason, a 29 year old with a few years of experience of working with youth players, in charge of the team? Mason shouldn't be in this position. Not his fault that Levy is incompetent.

No I'm not. They are very good. I know that. I saw a severe lack of effort again today though. I think it's been well established I don't like Winks but can anybody point me to anything at all he did in 90 minutes today. Seriously anything??

he did some pointing

There is one man who is responsible for the demise in quality of this squad and he has wasted the chance to build a title competing squad around a once in a generation talent.

He is also responsible for us facing sanctions for a criminally mishandled 'oversight' but still has massive support on here. Has more than a touch of Stockholm Syndrome about it....

I'd rather have tried to play the game and ship a few goals, rather than sit with all our players sitting behind the ball with fear that they are that inferior to City. You get out the game what you put in - we're so far behind & only going to drop further back.

Man City were too good, they didnt let us have a sniff, there pressing and fitness levels are insane. We did well to stay in the game for a long time.

Tough summer ahead for levy because central midfield is not good enough technically, lots of effort but little quality. Need to upgrade right back option too.
...and left back

Yes we were pretty poor but a lot of that was down to how good City are on and off the ball. Another hollow victory for the oil barrons and another loss for us. Pretty standard, bring on the next game.
