That’s because they have the best players - and a lot of them - and the best manager. They’re the best side there is.
That's no excuse for how poor we were or how we set up. We were way better last year against them when we played five at the back with pace up front.

Hope we don't get a karma check in the NLD. So, so, so lucky today. Can't really explain that result, we were just massively outplayed, can't remember Poch's Spurs being so weak.

Really hoping Real Madrid don’t come in for VAR before the window closes.

There's a running joke in the Middle East about how Real Madrid won everything every year until VAR was introduced and they got knocked out of all the competitions.

Two pretty weird games to start the season but 4 points (including 1 at the Ethiad) with 15 minutes played combined from Lo Celso, Son, Dele, Vertonghen, and Sessegnon.

You absolutely take that every day of the week.

In a massive game like this, the one thing I’d expect is that Harry Kane steps up. Like he wasn’t there. Invicible!

Well that was pretty much one way traffic, but I'll take the point all day long, VAR to the rescue again.

I'd have taken 4 point from these first two games, we did this with key players unavailable, but there's no doubting that we can count ourselves lucky, we are likely to play much better than that in some games this season and lose.

On the positives, the result, key players coming in, maximising our goals to shots on target ratio and VAR ?.

We didn’t play badly. They played well. They’re the best side on the planet, but they couldn’t finish today and we defended with great intensity, finished with precision, found some mental strength and nicked a point.

We rode the run of the ball, unquestionably, but you have to be tough to keep that lot from scoring 4-5.
Yep, most team will get battered by City this year. We weren't even anywhere near our best and still held on. Very un-Spurs-like. I still think this will be our best PL season, I can see us really kicking on.

System wasn't great, allowing the youngest member of our defence an overload on his side every time, leaving him to make the decision when to go out wide, and often left 2-1 was pretty poor and never really changed.

Sissoko offered little in helping us keep the ball but again our movement was lethargic and laboured. Eriksen and Kane jogged about for most of the game, and bizarrely, despite being our best CM (again) Winks was the one to go off (Poch does love a unit)

Bang on. Sissoko was all over the place.

I miss the press that we did when Poch first came.

Is the correct answer.

Close thread.

We probably would have had more shots on goal if our game-plan didn't consist of passing it around the back 5 for 97% of the game

Regardless of outcome, I HATE VAR.

Madness. You'd rather not get a point today or get to the CL final, because you'd rather be cheated out of the correct results in the name of footballing drama?

Fuck that. We've been getting screwed over for decades, my whole life I've been watching us get mugged off and always after the big games we spend our time debating how fucked over we've been, how thing's might've been different if only the ref or linesman had made the right call etc.

Not once do I remember us getting the benefit of the dramatic incorrect call, winning a trophy with no justification or sniggering at scraping a result we shouldn't have had in the big games. The only sides who have ever benefitted from that have been the big red and blue clubs and I'm well and truly fed up of watching them win everything year after year, so often at the cheated/undeserved expense of others through dodgy decisions and questionable officials.

Now we're finally starting to see some justice done for our team and I ABSOLUTELY FUCKING LOVE IT.

Long live VAR!

What was Skipp doing marking Laporte? We got away with that big time

Its only game 2 so not too disappointed with the performance. It will come in time. The difference now is we have difference makers on the bench who can change a game. Still early days for Lo Celso but Moura with the 2nd today and Eriksen turning things around last week. It seems Poch is more keen to ensure he has a game changer or 2 on the bench now. With Sess, Alli and Son out we still had a good bench so very positive about the squad now.

Some of the comments on here FFS. We just got a point against the best team in the world. This game will not reflect how we will play against the other top 6.

I think many people are actually being honest. Definitely not the hysteria we see on most match day threads. Delighted with a point but it was really disappointing that we didn’t even compete with city aside from controlling the game in the last 15. I think we will have a good season but a lot of work to do. We’re a much better side than today.

Firstly I'd like to thank SC for informing me to turn the TV back on  (although that extra last 2 minutes was still scary as fuck, so i retract my thanks! :sneaky:)

and secondly, a massive point from City that will go down in the book as one point irrespective of how it was gained.

And all while we appear to still have Poch's notorious pre-season in our legs. Can only get better IMO.

A draw away at Etihad is a massive result. Simple as that.

People can jizz themselves to death at praising how amazing City are. If you don't put your chances away it doesn't matter.
City will win nearly all their games there this season, no doubt.
