Dier has a poor combination of lapses in concentration and next to no recovery pace. Sanchez at least has the latter. I'd be very surprised if Dier makes it in this Postecoglou side in any capacity.
He shouldnt.

In fact, I would be saying that about any new coach.

A fresh start has been needed.

There's surely going to be a period where we go on a rocky run and get battered against a few clinical sides with our expansive style. But I think we'll recover it soon enough and at least now there are points on the board and already a belief that his style can translate to the PL.
I think there can be no denial to the opinion that a quality clinical side could cut us open while we’re learning and taking risks. So I’m really glad we have some early points on the bored. You know how fickle fans can be otherwise.

Please please please Daniel Levy don't screw this man over this week

At least one back up centre back in with lots of pace and someone in the front three are absolute must.

If we get that as a minimum then I really think we could have a great season. There will certainly be some rocky results but we look an organised team with some stardust sprinkled over it.
I'm afraid Levy won't deviate from his principles. Expect to be underwhelmed in a few days. Levy is always close but no cigar. There will be gaps left, there always is. If Ange is to have any success, it will be because of his coaching in spite of Levy.

I do think there's some revisionism going on re: Conte though. Yes his subs were shit but in his first season we played a lot of really good stuff and everyone seemed to be pulling in the right direction towards the end of the season. I think something happened last summer to piss him off, who knows what it was, but he was wrong to take it out on the players which he clearly did. The system barely changed and in fact we had better players, but clearly he'd done something to lose the players mentally.

I agree that he was self-sabotaging last season. We were doing great by the end of his first season. I can’t forgive his behaviour last year, it was severely damaging to the club. If he had genuine integrity he would’ve quit when he decided he didn’t want to be here anymore, rather than draw out his exit to ensure a payoff.

Smashing manager. It's the most important role at the club and such a shame we frittered away 4 years after making such progress with Poch. Great for him to rack up points and clean sheets early on too because that banks a lot of goodwill that would only be there theoretically if it was a much ropier start. Hopefully Ange is given the space to work without too much nonsense from Levy.

I totally get why a coach such as him who's not brought in to develop players would be pissed off at the lack of ambition. But for his own sake, he'd have been better channeling that anger into more productive means then just leaving amicably at the end of the season if he didn't share Levy's vision. He should have handled the press better and batted away all of the contract talk. He's painted himself as a dinosaur and I think clubs will think twice before appointing him now in spite of his record.

I wonder what he makes of this Postecoglou team now? It'd never happen but would be so intrigued to see him talk about us as some sort of pundit.

It’s another real stick or twist moment. Levy can take view that Ange has it under control after 3 games so why do more, or he can realize we have a real chance to be right in the thick of things and really push on if we properly support him. We ought to hand him the Kane $ and carte blanche to exclude excess players from the roster so he has the #s right.

This guy is the perfect fit for this club in every way. Back him back him back him.
Tuesday could be the real indication because our squad is still very weak at centre back. If we rest Romero and VdV it's going to be very clear we need another CB at least. This is the issue at this stage when the injuries don't build up we do look good. I would worry for Ange as the season goes on if we have to rely on certain squad players who need to be replaced. Centre forward being another concern so we absolutely need at least 1 CB and forward.

He is starting to look like he has it all.
Personality, style of play, creating a culture that all the players (and fans) buy in to, and just doing the right things in terms of line ups, subs etc.
He also seems the type to just adapt and get on with it rather than moaning at the framework he'll have to work within.

I think he may finally be 'the one'.

Zero reason to rotate CBs unless Ange is happy to keep Sanchez and have as part of squad. CBs can easily ply 2 games a week. Need all the chemistry we can get given no real preseason for VdV.

It's very hard to see through the bias, but...has there ever been a more likeable manager in the premier league....ever?

The bloke just exudes calm and confidence on the footballing side, says all of the right things to the fans while backing it up on the pitch, meanwhile schmoozing the press and being genuinely funny and personable, but flat out taking the piss out of journos asking stupid questions to their faces and making them look like the prats that they are. Acts like he's been managing this club for 15 years for fucks sake. What's going on?!

Yeah we need to be careful not to get carried away. The start under Ange has been so, so positive and he deserves all the time in the world, but we rode our luck in the first half against United and every team we've played has missed some good chances.

One of these days the stars will align for our opponents, they'll take every big chance we let up and we'll get an absolute pasting.

But that's fine and to be expected - we'll just have to accept it's a necessity of playing this style of football.

As Ange says, these are still the "embryonic stages" of the the project and we're a long long way from the finished article.

But yeah, it's huge that we got some early results to ease the fans' nerves and buy Ange a lot of time and goodwill.
