I think you could add destiny, vdv, son, Romero, and bis as well in to if any of those guys are injured we are in trouble
In ‘trouble’ really? Sonny maybe but there is Veliz. We might need to adapt a little but VDV or Destiny could be covered as could Romero or Porro. The front players have also got Gil this week and Johnson in 2 weeks back. If they all get injured at the same time then yes maybe but we still have a crop of youngsters that are seemingly ok. Not ideal if Biss gets injured but I’m sure Skipp or PEH could do a temporary job until Bentacaur returns.

Don’t panic or worry where there is none needed. 1 game and then the International break. If players are even slightly injured they won’t play (except maybe Sonny).

I liked his answer about giving a team back a goal if one is scored in some sort of error. Fuck no!

It helps that his first language is English but this guy is absolutely brilliant at handling himself with the press. He makes sense, he answers the questions and he is incredibly articulate. One of the most articulate people I've seen in football and has a very relatable way about him unlike, say, Simon Jordan who is incredibly articulate but you always feel he's showing off his vocabulary and talking down to you. That last answer was first class. Whatever else he is as a football manager, I'd imagine he's a phenomenal communicator with his players.

No disrespect to Conte or Mourinho, it's their second language FFS, but they wouldn't have handled it that well. In saying that, Mourinho is one of the most intelligent and quick witted football managers there is so he probably would have caused WW3 with his response.

His intelligence is something else. His response to the youth academy especially impressed me. I really hope he can become our greatest ever manager.

He’s won over those hardened journos hasn’t he? They won’t mess him about, won’t cross him, and I suspect they all want him to succeed so they can say they were on that journey.
inspired (or flukes) appointment

The sense of humour helps though. The Aussies and English have good banter among each other. Most of the top teams have foreign managers and they're mostly pretty dry. Even some of the English managers like Hodgson and Howe are a bit dull really. Ange is a breath of fresh air. We haven't had someone like it since Redknapp.

He is so level-headed in his responses too.

Just excudes a sense of calm. Doesn't want to create drama.

Everyone could be losing their shit but he will just stick to the task. It is a really great quality to have.

I disagree

Right now I think Donley more ready than Veliz

If we loose any of the players mentioned we will have issues, they are all important cogs

Bis has been one of the best midfielders in the world in his position this year, his top of the stats for pretty much everything. PEH or skipp would be a huge drop.

If sons injured we will struggle for goals, his had a really good start.

Since this is the Ange thread, let's look at it from purely that perspective:

He's been manager for 7 PL games, and has already had a transformative effect.

The squad is in its absolute infancy as a Postecoglou squad. The are gaping holes in it, which is 100% to be expected at this nascent stage and should be seen as a very positive sign for us, given what the manager is able to do with a team that largely pre-dates his appointment and weren't bought specifically to fit his system.

That is reason for optimism isn't it?

Levy must be back slapping himself over this appointment. Over the last 2-3 months, he's taken every bit of negativity sounding the club and booted it firmly into touch.. Levy can start to venture out of his house now without the risk of being lynched

Ange was so beside himself embarrassed for the stupid guy that played the Happy Days theme. How is someone that shambolic
Ange even has to say "No more props, please...I'm done"

Honestly the standard of journalism is just bizarre, would you do a Bielsa and then playing Happy Days. Almost as weird and obnoxious as that German guy holding up a Bayern shirt with Kane on it.

I suppose they’re trying things out on Ange but have a feeling he is so relaxed about whatever is thrown at him.

Alisdair Gold on the other hand (I know Spurs through and through) but have a lot of time for him; sensible questions. He has defo absorbed the Ange effect like us all.

I never looked forward to press conferences before with our previous managers: Ange bats things off when needed and answers questions like they should be, straight back at them.

Although I think Ange quite enjoys the pressers, I do think he also hates them and considers them an unnecessary distraction.
