Pray to god Phillips or Dorrington get some minutes tomorrow otherwise this thread could just turn into a thread about Ange playing kids 🙏🏻

Of course we should leave space for our young players to come through but as with your examples doesn’t always work.

Looking at our youth set up we have Veliz as striker, then in the number 10 Maddison role we have Donley and Mikey Moore, then in defence we have Dorrington, Philips and Vuskovic.

We have been linked with Nusa a winger and Vermeeren a deep lying play maker. Not sure we have any young players coming through who are good enough who would be denied an opportunity with these signings, perhaps Tyrese Hall?
Yeah, I was just thinking earlier that cm and the wings is probably where we seem to be weakest, in terms of potential talent.
Santiago was having a good season (before injury) but that seemed to be more of a suprise than an expectation.

Mikey Moore. Potentially a generational talent.

If he does play them, the narrative will be that he isn't taking the cup seriously. You can't please everyone and I just hope we win.
It’s a balancing act but a home game against a struggling side shouldn’t stop a player or 2 getting some minutes.

This too funny

What a clown that journalist is. Did he really think through his question?

I live his responses because some would get interested and go on a rant "Jose".

But he just treats the question for what it is and makes you laugh too.

These people get paid to think up questions like that too.

Just a typical England-centric train of thought. Not even a consideration that there are other trophies outside of English football.

I think one of the other things that Ange gets tired of hearing about: "Top-4"

My impression is he never thinks about top-4. He has never set a goal of top-4. If you listen to him - his goal is to win the whole thing - whether that is FA Cup or the League. Ange does not set goals below the top.

Another way he encapsulates the spurs way, it's better to aim high..... echo of glory and all that

The idea that Anges system is causing injuries is ridiculous.

Any journalist with half a brain would take a step back and look at the injury crisis ravaging the entire premier league right now. Almost half the clubs are experiencing some sort of injury curse at the moment. Our club isn't even the worst affected.
There certainly seems to be a huge increase in injuries this season across the EPL, but I was reading that Ange’s Celtic squad was severely impacted by injuries in his first season up in Scotland and also that Yokohama Marinos suffered the same fate during his first season.

that would make sense, I mean look at how much our team has to run up and down the pitch coupled with the fact that our play style is so attacking and possession based that we get hacked down a lot and a lot in transition which would mean high speed colissions. In the prem, with how fast guys are running and the speed of the colissions i could def see that as the reasoning behind these injuries.

That coupled with the defensive style we have played over the 3 years where less running due to just sitting back (barring the attack), the bodies aren't used to it.

Lastly, when we are spread thin, there is no room to rotate so players are being forced to play a lot of minutes back to back to back

Although I remember when Conte took over we went from being one of the teams with the fewest miles covered on the pitch to the team with the most miles covered. Also teams usually have to work harder when they don’t have the ball.

I think given that many other clubs have had similar injury problems, and that for players like Romero, VdV and Maddison these are recurrent issues, and that we don’t have the depth to absorb losing starting players, that although the change in system may be leading to more injuries, it has been magnified due to the above reasons.

For example Romero spent long periods of his first season here injured. So did Bissouma. Maddison also spent a lot of time injured at Leicester. VdV has done his hamstring before. Bentancur was already injured. Then the Romero and Bissouma suspensions have compounded the problem. And obviously the drop off when we lose Romero or VdV is so great because we didn’t buy a third cb to cover last summer.

So whilst I agree that Ange’s approach may be leading to more injuries, I think in reality it’s probably a combination of factors.

Yep. Ange will know that top 4 status is hugely important to the club, but the best way to get top 4 is to be challenging for the title, then top 4 should take care of itself.

A Kulusevski quote about Ange in an interview after winning Sweden's Player of the Year & Midfielder of the Year

You have had many great coaches, who do you have the warmest feelings for?

– Of the great ones...? Let me think now. I've learned so much. At Atalanta, it started with Gasperini. I was young, I was hungry, but I didn't get to play, and I thought it was his fault. But it was my fault. So I learned from him, it was hard work. The Italian style was also present with Conte, just hard work and a lot of grinding.

– But... I had a great coach at BP (IF Brommapojkarna), Andreas Engelmark, who helped me a lot in my younger years. And now... what I feel for this coach (Postecoglou) at Tottenham, it's something new, something completely different. It's something I've never had before, truly. The mentality, the training sessions, the playing style... If my dream was to play football in a certain way, it would be like this. If I were a coach, I would surely set up a team in a similar way and try to win matches, never thinking about what happens if we lose.

– I am very impressed by him, very lucky to learn from such a man.

I bet Dejan isn't the only one who absolutely adores him.
