It’s his second language Greek is his firstNothing whatsoever against Poch or any other non-native English speaking managers, but it is kinda nice to have a manager whose first language is English again. Conte especially was constantly struggling to fully express the depth of his ideas in pressers and interviews due to his limited English, and Poch also often slipped into the use of repetitive phrases, as anyone who hasn't mastered a second language typically does (I say this as a mediocre spanish speaker myself who does exactly the same thing).
Also from listening to interviews it feels like Ange hasn't been conditioned to speak in a slew of English football clichés like many UK managers have, or the alien-speak that US "soccer" coaches use.
Just feels refreshing to have an Aussie coach, basically.
Proud to be proudThe forbidden P word
Sure but you know what I mean - he moved over when he was 5 so he's completely bilingual. Totally different situation to Poch, Conte, etc. It’s his second language Greek is his first
Not in a David Warner kind of bad wayI like him, he's Australian but not in a bad way.
Levy mustn't gave him a discount code from the shopNot wearing any Spurs merch he's definitely #ENICOut
Trust the Academy is the new Trust the Process
Wonder which acquisitions he's referring to specifically? Are we going all the way back to Ndombele/Sess/Lo Celso or are we talking Richarlison, Perisic, etc?
Also, if you keep flip-flopping between completely different styles of managers who value totally different qualities in players, you're gonna have issues with your acquisitions, Daniel.
That's why it's so important to have manager/head coach who can speak and communicate well.So genuine, so refreshing, so nice to have hope and positivity and direction again.
Love how he says "we will make you proud but more importantly get excited by"
Love how he says "bringing football that embodies the values and traditions of this fantastic football club"
The Manager is and always will be the most important person at a football club, we've got the last 3 very wrong and that has caused a lot of frustration, upset and loss of hope and identity, Postecoglou embodies everything that a Tottenham Manager should be and we've given him a 4 year deal so it is clear this is an entirely new chapter.
Lets enjoy and savour every moment of this new and exciting journey!
COYS!
Hopefully it's more him sayingI think there’s also the fact that DL Hides behind the fact that some of these more expensive players haven’t worked out recently but is the reality more that he insists on a certain type of player at a certain age so there’s a resale value?
That, is what, imho, stops us from dining at the same table as successful clubs.
those comments about trusting the academy. Is that basically saying not to expect much in terms of summer signings?

I think prioritizing sell-on value isn't wrong. What is wrong is the destruction of value because we overpaid for players that are fundamentally unsuited to us, or the PL.I think there’s also the fact that DL Hides behind the fact that some of these more expensive players haven’t worked out recently but is the reality more that he insists on a certain type of player at a certain age so there’s a resale value?

Bissouma last summer was just as good a bargain, if not better, than Mac Allister. Will be a new player in a non-Conte system.I think DL is right there..that we are paying the price for our bad recruitment.
I think we are still paying that price btw. Mac Allister for 35m vs Richy for 60m; just an example to show the gulf in our process. We have alot of catch-up to do off the field, not just on it.
Suspect he’s talking about pre Paratici deals only. He clearly massively rated Paratici. I think he’s referring to Ndombele, Sessegnon, Lo Celso and Reguillon. All the big money signings we’ve sent out on loan (plus Sess).Wonder which acquisitions he's referring to specifically? Are we going all the way back to Ndombele/Sess/Lo Celso or are we talking Richarlison, Perisic, etc?

Yup, that was my biggest want for the new manager, to be someone who'll show and use a pathway from the academy.Hopefully it's more him saying
"I don't want a manager like Conte who will downright refuse to use academy players in any meaningful capacity"
rather than
"lol no more spending you buttholes".
He means the Levy signings are shitWonder which acquisitions he's referring to specifically? Are we going all the way back to Ndombele/Sess/Lo Celso or are we talking Richarlison, Perisic, etc?
