Craig Foster, a former member of the Aussie squad, played for Brighton from memory, before becoming a commentator. Foster had a go at Ange because of the style he was imposing on the Aussie squad, Ange gave him a serve and after we won the Asia Cup, he quit and headed for Japan. He also did brilliantly at Brisbane. Cant recall the precise order of events.

He really is a no nonsense character, who will let the board and the players know exactly what he thinks.

I met an Aussie Liverpool supporter this weekend, and he mentioned to me that Ange isn't really that popular in Australia. Anyone here able to confirm or deny this?

Load of crap. Very popular - and Aussie’s appear very proud of him getting the spurs job.

Never seen so much Spurs coverage here before Ange took the role on.

Very popular, but he is stubborn and some in the game who like a more 'realistic' style of football (ie those who obsess on defence, or who think that being attacking and open equals being 'naive' ) got on his back when he was national team coach and in time he had a gutful of it.

That will come here too, the 'I like attacking football but...' crowd will be a factor, esp in the rough patches or when we have an off day....

Just posted this on a front page article but felt the need to repeat it here, not least to stop the HK thread batting down all else:

Each and every Ange interview makes me like him even more. Literally had never even heard of the bugger before our interest in him but his candid nature, honesty, wit, no nonsense attitude and - of course - footballing philosophy make him so refreshingly likeable.

I really don't get how we ended up with Ange as our Head Coach.

He lives and breathes leadership, in complete opposite to the way Levy runs the club.

That is the question, coaches like Ange and players alike e.g Maddison are happy to come to Spurs and work with Levy as the ultimate boss , why would they come to a club with no ambition ?

I was not convinced by him at all when we signed him and while I’m still not 100% sold (I wouldn’t be with anyone at this stage) I’m almost all in. He talks a good game now he just needs to deliver. Easy peasy.

Yeah, we need to be patient.
I'll give him until half time.

I’m so excited for the season. Whatever the results over the first few weeks we need unity and stick with the team
