im sure they are many footballers better than sanchez willing to be back-up, that's an insane claim, there are hundreds of players in dutch, Belgium, german, Italian league better

Okay - hope we sign one of those hundreds of players then. Truly.

I'm not entirely sure you're right though...

i think that's a poor excuse. We've seen over the past few years what these players are about.
Different circumstances, different tactics etc etc.

It’s far too simplistic for you to say that, so what are we going to do sell 10-12 players between now and Friday 12pm?

It simply doesn’t work like that so whilst we continue this rebuild with Ange he will still need some of these players whether we like that or not and therefore the only way to see what they can offer is to play them.

Think bigger picture here.

Playing with 10 is better cover than Sanchez.

Does it make you feel good writing posts like that? Is that the point of it? To score feel good points by shitting on players?

Just feels odd to me but whatever. Like i said I'm happy for us to buy better. (y)

Don’t think we weren’t taking it seriously, just that Ange wanted / needed to give some other players minutes but unfortunately they weren’t up to the job.

All it shows to me is that we still need a good 3-4 more signings minimum.
Someone taking that game seriously doesn’t bring Scarlet on for Lo Celso at half time. That’s the kind of thing you do in a pre season game.

He ought to have been more patient, he would have got more chances to play those players gradually over several cup games. Now he’s got no cup games, and those players have less chances.

Will be interesting to hear what he says about tonight's game. I don't expect he thought it was as much of a risk playing that team as it actually was. It's a real bummer losing and if it hasn't quite brought the honeymoon to an end, there's a lot of bad feeling after tonight.

Personally, I think that result is going to be important in the team's development and while it really smarts now will have shown Ange how shallow our squad is, and how much he might have misread a couple of good halves of pre-season football from the reserves.

Some of tonight's side will have played their last game for the club, and others will have cemented their place on the bench.

Onwards to an important match on Saturday, and hopefully a positive reaction.

Think he found a nice balance between taking the blame and telling the journos to “fuck off, mate” tbh

He definitely made a mistake making 9 changes, but at the same time, I'd rather he sees what this second team is not capable of. It ensures he at least can find out who he can and can't trust.

This season was always going to he a transition season with ups and downs, can't expect to win every game. Yes it hurts we are out of a cup competition. Tbh I'm glad this happened as now he can gut the players that are no good and build his squad in the way he wants it to be.

This is going to take a few windows and time before we can have a strong overall squad which can be rotated with players that he can trust.

Trust the process and be patient with big Ange. I'm sure he knows he messed up but he can only learn from this and move forward.

He wants to find out his players but now we’re out this cup he’ll have fewer matches to see them. Should’ve played at least a couple more first teamers, and half time should’ve been a big switch up. Pretty disappointing game management that suggests he’s not interested in this cup.

Part of the reason - in the very simplest terms - is that the ball comes back to him less - because our midfield is regaining possession higher up the pitch. We aren't having to soak up pressure as part of our counter attacking strategy like under Conte. Problem is, when you have a midfield that leaks like a sieve, like tonight, you're asking for trouble.

Exactly. It was all aboutthe balance. And our midfield was wayyyy to weak in press resistance tonight. Asking for trouble.

Thought Dav was fine for the most part but we could have lost the game in the first 30 minutes.

watch every cup defeat over the last 3/4 years and then you’ll know all you need to know - watch them shit the bed time and time again against in wholly winnable cup ties.

Or play them in the league to find out just how sub-par they are because we aint winning the league, and after 15 years of winning nothing I cannot get excited anymore about extra champions league revenue.

if you dont think there are better players out there happy to be back-up then you clearly don't watch a lot of tooball, the are more leagues to watch than just the PL

Yeah this sounds more like him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's happy to take L and use it as a cattle prod for how far we have to go. He could never admit that though :D

Ultimately I’m left with the feeling that winning was not Ange’s main priority tonight, finding out about his squad was. Maybe that leads to more winning in future who knows. Feels like a big blow given our drought.

Still feel he could have done that with half the changes from the off and then a few subs.

Surely lads like mason who have been around the place long enough to know our 2nd string can't put in a decent performance should have warned him off the changes.

If we lose against Burnley on weekend after that performance and his decisions then that'll be a really poor week.
