I have just read through 3 pages of........................................... I'm not sure what.
Is alfie103 just on a wind up, is he just soo negative in his mindset or has he misunderstood what Ange says?
My wife has a very negative view on life so I can understand that point of view.

I support Spurs all the way. The past 18 months were crap. I couldn't get up at 2am to watch us. I will now.
Did you seriously enjoy the rubbish served up?
Do you go out of your way to watch Roma now?

That's fair enough. It would be ideal if we played great football and won the biggest trophies but that isn't going to happen unless we spend more like Man City, Chelsea and others.

The football wasn't the most entertaining but I am more concerned with winning than how the style of football used. I am not all of a sudden really excited to watch Tottenham because a manager who will play attacking football is here.

I probably wouldn't go out of my way to watch Roma regardless of the style of football they played.

So what’s your solution? What’s the best that you can hope for with the caveat that we can’t spend as big as those clubs?

For me it’s to get to a point of competing while enjoying the football along the way. Because no matter what the style of football, we’re never going to have that money to spend.

It's fine to feel like that, but as you can see from the overwhelming number of replies, a lot of people are excited.

If winning things is your priority, I think you've been following the wrong team!

Like other posters on here, I wasn't bothered watching us last few seasons. I did, but I didn't enjoy it. We've played 4 games this season and the difference is night and day.

Will we go on and win something? Maybe, maybe not. But I'm going to enjoy it for what it is. Entertaining, attacking football. It's been a while since any of us have enjoyed that.

I'm now looking at fixtures to see what games I'll be able to get to. That was the last thing on my mind over the last few seasons.

If we can't realistically compete at the top level, focus on winning other trophies we might have a better shout at.

For me, the competing whilst enjoying the football along the way smacks of just looking to finish in the top 4 and qualifying for the CL to maximise revenue for the club. Levy will pretend we are competing for the top honours when in reality we are just worried about qualifying for the CL for the money.

If you are happy with that then fair enough but for me, I don't see any glory in just making up the numbers and the vague promise of 'progress'.

I think the point that Alfie is spectacularly managing to miss is that Ange believes that the style of football he gets his teams to play is the best way for him to win games.

He's not just trying to play pretty football and hoping he might win the odd match as a byproduct of that. Lol. Jeez.

So prioritising the cups over the league? And what happens when we get City in the quarters? I think it’s about finding the right balance, which Ange will be the first to admit that he didn’t get quite right in the League Cup. But it was one of his first games and is bound to make a few mistakes (as is anyone).

I’m still not sure why we can’t back him along the way and allow him to make mistakes while he tries to get things right, in the same way that he seems to be allowing the players to do so.

As as I said previously, when the destination can’t be guaranteed, we should at least be allowed to enjoy the journey along the way.

Nah, I don't think he wants to win.

I find the concept that you choose good football or winning, like it's one or the other very weird.

If anything, I think you need to play good football to win.

All our recent best performing managers, Jol, Redknapp, Poch, played good football. It was the boring, safety 1st football managers that failed.
It seems to be required more now. I think its because the league now has a good number of teams spending good money on attacking players. There's not many really negative teams left now at the top end of the table. West Ham have started well but I doubt they will keep it up. So many teams play attacking football at the top level. Man City are obviously the team to catch but we haven't really had a team play that counter defensive style for a while and win. Funny enough the last ones were really Conte and Jose who we tried, Ranieri for one season. So while people spoke about how they won titles before I think the game has passed them by now.

Dier has made the Prem squad - wonder if Ange will cal on him first if Romero or VDV are out?

It’s little things but Porro calling us a family, Maddison saying he loves this team, the clear love Sonny has from the group - it gives a real sense of unity, of a team that’s actually happy to be there which it hasn’t been since about 2018 imo. Who’d have thought making people not miserable might be effective?
True, we're getting that good atmosphere back that was last seen back when Moussa was crowned Uno champion

Where’s the glory in winning a fourth or fifth tier trophy because you’ve accepted you can’t win the big ones?

Aim higher. If you fail in the attempt, go back and try again. Don’t give up and aim lower.

I don’t remember any of them directly saying they have been told they must rotate the squad in cup games. It’s another one of these made up narratives.

It’s true that the club have prioritised finishing top four more often than not, but the idea that all these string characters have allowed Levy to dictate to them who they pick in the team is bollocks.
I don't know, I actually think string characters are asking to be controlled.

Fair enough but to most it's wild that you presumably look back at the Santini/Graham eras more favorably than the peak Poch era Spurs.

Alfie, I don't think that you woke up and chose violence. I know where you come from. During that Mourinho/Conte period I was desperate for us to win something under them, irrespective of football style. There were periods under both when we actually played some entertaining stuff. But, after last season, I don't care about winning at all costs. It was the first time I ever had zero desire to watch us play. The forum was more interesting to me than the club itself. I was more into playing Fantasy Football than what was happening at Spurs. I never thought it possible, but I even enjoyed international breaks because it was a break from the painful footie on the pitch.

It was awful to behold Spurs. I would much rather us play an attacking brand of footie and give it a go that way. Ange has expressed the desire to give it a real go, not just to make up the Top 4 numbers.

I look forward to watching us play again and I'm back to hating the International Break. And I have this strange feeling that we'll genuinely win something with Ange at the helm.
