Expected assists and expected assisted goals share the same criteria for the pass (type of the pass, the location on the pitch, the phase of play, and the distance covered) with the difference being what happens after the pass.
Expected assists doesn't require a shot to happen after the pass for the value to be associated with it.
Expected assisted goals does require a shot to happen after the pass for the value to be associated with it.
e.g if a player makes a pass that is considered to be 0.3 xA (type of the pass, the location on the pitch, the phase of play, and the distance covered etc) but the recipient chooses to pass instead of shoot, the Stats will show 0.3 for xA but 0 for xAG for that pass.
That is according to Reddit anyway.
