Weird feeling today. Proud of the way we played with 9 and the guts we showed but pure fear of Dier at CB for a while and a high line. The Wolves game is gonna be a big test.

Discipline needs improving. Romero has been much improved this season but we all know he has that streak in him. Udogie gives away fouls too regularly as well.

Heart in the team is unbelievable. The team fought but realistically playing against 11 men is always going to be hard.

I like the mentality Ange has but defending so high up when we had no pace at the back is more risk than reward and will be found out if we continue to do it over the next number of games. I think Ange has to recognise that and not be reckless in his tactics.

Romero is out for 3 and VDV is out for an unknown but likely long time so we have a new centre back pairing for 3 games at least. I just don't see how we can have say Dier and Davies playing so high up. I really hope we bring in Phillips and/or Dorrington up into the squad to see what they can do. Emerson another shout for me.

Anyone know what he got booked for? See a lot of rival fans calling him a hypocrite for saying to respect the referees and believing he got booked for dissent in the same game. (Wasn't sure if it was dissent or something else?)

As Ange says, the high line is who we are.

We’ll never learn to make it work consistently if we succumb to our instinct to drop back under pressure.

Better to acknowledge that this season is about rebuilding, stick to our principles and build a squad that is capable of absorbing injuries and suspensions without compromising the style that is most likely to bring the type of success that we’ve not know in a very long time.

He left his technical area apparently and only Arteta is allowed to do that.

I was sat behind him. He absolutely lost it at the linesman (I have to say understandably). They were playing their part in failing to control the game. Yet another offside by Chelsea wasn't called because Tottenham got the ball, but they continued their pressure and Spurs gave the ball away shortly afterwards - but we should've had a free kick in the first place. He raced up to the fourth official and gave him an earful. I don't know whether the yellow was for the earful itself or for stepping out of his technical area to do it. But that's what happened

The officials, as much as he's right about managers respecting them, were horrendous last night, and you're spot on, they allowed the game to spiral out of control.

I was in the severe sceptics squad over Ange. 11 games in and I've never been so sure of a manager being perfect for us. He has an uncanny talent for always saying the right thing. Common sensical approach which is surprisingly rare. A great communicator and clearly a fantastic motivator.

Last night was devastating and will have a significant impact on what we can achieve this season, depending on the length of VDV's absence. However, I don't think I've ever seen a more committed performance from a Spurs team, perhaps in my lifetime. I've seen better performances tactics wise, goals scored etc, but in terms of pure heart and commitment, I think that's right up there.

Absolutely incredible  week on week that wee rat runs up and down the sidelines calling in game team talks, that's made me more angry than last nights result.

To be honest I find it offensive that he hasn't been reprimanded yet for his post match comments. The decision to award the goal was debated and it was a 50-50 decision. It seems that VAR and the communication/apology for mistakes in the recent past has almost made them "fair game" for ****s like Arteta. However the Newcastle goal wasn't a clear error, it was VAR saying "umpire's call" without evidence to overturn it, like they do in cricket. Off-topic here maybe but just comparing that to Ange's stance, which I think was exemplary.

There were so many fouls against us not given, there was one your side before there goal?

How did the curly haired left back not get booked for the push on son?

Agreed and the fans deserve a lot of credit last night

The next few games we will see how good a manager Ange is, his going to have to replace CR, vdv, destiny, Maddison.

How did Sterling not get booked for either of his dives in the box too? Oliver even called him for one of them. Pathetic official. We've had Bissouma rightly sent off for it but the inconsistency really grates.

100% they were fantastic and goes to show we do have a great fanbase. It didn't go unnoticed. If it wasn't for the long term injury of VDV I'd be even more optimistic this morning about our season than if we won. The spirit around the club, the connection forming between players and fans, the way they've all bought into Ange's philosophy and are so motivated are all incredible to witness.

However I'm just so down over VDV.

I think the tactics last night were extremely intelligent and far-sighted.

It would have been the easiest thing in the world at 1-1 to have dropped deep trying to hang on. It’s what every single other manager in the PL would have done.

But In his pomp, Bill Nick would have done the equivalent of what Ange did. Rather lose by playing brave football than grind out a draw by sacrificing the one thing that in the end is going to distinguish us from everyone else.

Being brave includes accepting that sometimes we’ll lose but if we don’t try to win at all times then how are we different from all the rest?

As the man said, I would rather lose trying to win than be bored by trying to grind out a draw to a team we know in our hearts we can beat.

Fuck teams like Chelsea. There’s not a single thing I admire about them, and I want us to be better than them in every way, and Ange is the first manager in a very long time who is trying to do it by sticking to the sort of football that gives us a realistic chance of not just competing but beating anyone, providing we stick to it and don’t compromise.

this is nice. It’s great to have the club managed by a man of integrity and class, a real grown up, in contrast with Arteta and Klopp in particular.

There is a downside to all of this though - in those tight marginal decisions, does a ref make a call against us because he knows Ange wont crucify him in the press for a week like some others. Given my low opinion of many though not all refs, you can’t rule it out.

This then is the (potential) cost of being an honest man, a man of integrity, i suppose.

If taking a stand on one’s principles were cost free, more people would do it

That sort of comes back to Ange’s point though. Do you react in the way that you think best gets you a future result. A hidden agenda to get the outcome you want rather than a principled stand?

Or maybe the refs think, “this guy and his team have been on our side, I like them” and we get the benefit.

You’d hope the officials see beyond all the bollox though and just call the decisions as they genuinely see them.

Not sure itll show how good Ange is. Hes been left massively short at CB which we knew.

I believe it was Trix who said Kelly was ours if we made the reasonable asking price but we chose not to and now look at us. We sold Sanchez too who has the pace for this high line.
