Only a combination of superb heroics from Vacario and poor finishing from the opposition saved us from a real drubbing. Would you still feel the same about Anges brave tactics had we shipped 8 or 9 goals?

Well we could've had 3 goals ourselves with 9 men so yeah I would've felt the same.

I like the ‘this is the way we play, and this is how we are’.. I have a couple of issues with last night tho.
1) I don’t think we’ve ever played SUCH as high a line as that. I mean, all our defenders were in their half. Against Sterling. But it could have worked if….
2) Our midfielders had really pressed the chelsea player with the ball. I think that’s where we came undone. Skipp was at fault for the first one, hence Vic going mad at him. The Chelsea guy was given as much time as he wanted to pick the pass. It was really bad, and then crumbled from there.

It was brave, and it nearly worked. But unless there’s pressure on the ball in those phases, that high line with those defenders was gonna get hit at some point.

Sometimes it could be an anxiety issue. It isn't everyone's tea to be speaking with camera so close you. I know he has done it countless times, but one could still be nervy with such moments. We don't see that often when he's in a wider settings with cameras further away.
I agree. He also struggles with eye contact in interviews/press. He’a not natural in that environment which makes the quality, dignity and humour in his interviews/press conferences all the more impressive.

I find it hilarious that when we had Conte, people were saying they hated the way we just sat back waiting to get pummeled and would rather give it a go and lose.
this happened last night and surprise surprise that was not good enough or Ange don’t have a clue.
Funny how things turn out.

Who are these people who said both things ?

When Chelsea scored the third the whole South stand stood up and clapped the team.

Put a shiver up my spine...sheer class.

Was proud to be part of that.

Beni lad, read the post by spursfan77 below your post.

gotta start thinking bigger, he ain’t about it all now, changing style to save a point, he’s trying to change a culture, a style and people’s confidence, it could have been 8-1 in the end and I truely believe he’d have atill wanted his team up high because getting that trust from the squad as a collective will bring everyone closer to the objective on the long run.

I’m proper sold on this manager.
I’m sold on him aswell, I love how we play and want us to play this way. However I just think by being a bit pragmatic particularly when going down to 9 would have been better for us to have salvaged something last night and maintained our good start. Changing it for half a game doesn’t then mean all our progress has stopped, ripped up and we resort to a negative team, it’s deployed based on the scenario we were dealt with.

Let’s just move on now from last night and keep going with the progress we are seeing.

I reckon that we would likely have still lost. I think that the way we lost has by and large gone over very much better with the fans.

I agree, we would have probably lost in either tactic. I certainly am proud of them all, still the result and manner hurts for me.

The better question would be how many teams have drawn with 9 men?

Liverpool were an own goal on the dying seconds away from salvaging a point against a much better team than we just played.
We played 14 more minutes of normal time with 9 men than Liverpool did against us. Maybe we would have scored an extra 2 goals with another 14 mins, who knows.

Yes, I don’t necessarily agree though, invite the attacking team on (like Liverpool did), or actually try and go win the game …

Both son and bents came very close, Son scores, they don’t get their 3rd.

personally liked the fact we still went for it, fine margarine though, but I do know if we packed the box out, eventually Chelsea would have scored, so I’m on the side of cracking on
I'm shocked that any fans of ours watched us last season and have come to the conclusion that a low block/inviting them onto us was the answer.

We were shipping goals in for fun last season with 11 players let alone 9 and the only player on the pitch that wasn't with us last season was Vicario.

I think you’re missing the entire point of Ange sticking to his guns. It wasn’t the result that mattered last night, it was that it’ll always be the way forward, and we aren’t going to be a team that retreats back into its shell when shit goes bad.

Who are these people who said both things ?

I didn’t think his point was that the same people were saying both things 😂

I thought that he was correctly pointing out that whatever he did, unless we won there would be people complaining.

As it turns out it appears that most people here and by the sound of it in the stadium were proud of what he did and how the team went about their job, aside from the two individual cock-ups. .

Weird thing for a Spurs fan to say when we've beaten City so many times.
We beat City under Jose like that, yes.

But we didn't have 9 or 10 men.

But how did we do after that? Was it sustainable?

We beat them with Conte but we actually attacked them everytime we could.

Under Stellini, Id say that was a bit of abnormal scenario
