What he and his staff have been able to change at that club in only a matter of months has been nothing short of incredible.

For that reason, they'll have my full support regardless of any bumps on the road to fully implementing his style of play.

My only additional hope is that he leans on some of our talented younger players, as I feel their youthful energy and eagerness to impress can be a positive boost for the whole team.

Well according to The Sun at least - largely due to wrong decisions against Brentford and Woolwich being factored out.

Feel bad for Big Ange. As this is a unique situation. No one can plan around losing key players for such extended periods of time.
To the best of my understanding: Romero is out for two more games. Maddison, VdV, Solomon out to January. Sess out to Feb/March. Perisic out all season. Then you have AFCON and the Asia Cup to also work through.

I am not expecting miracles with such a thin squad in terms of quality. The best I can hope for is we can bag two or three wins by the January transfer window. Then hopefully bring in some much-needed depth, and some of the walking wounded will return. Then, we make a run at the top 6. I think it's realistically the very best we can hope for given the current situation.

And because we are Spurs - wouldn't be shocked if we lose one or two more over the international break.

The effing Chelsea game. Wow.

Where did you read that Sess will be out until Feb/March? Last update I saw it was looking like a December return. He started light training at the end of September.

Liverpool had this issue a few years ago. Had an injury hit season and dropped down the table. They missed Van Dijk for a lot of games similar to us with VdV now. Their defence suffered a lot so I'm seeing a lot of similarity with us. They were in need of a stronger squad and we're no different. We simply don't have the depth just yet but this was always a transition season. We've had Ange a few months so of course we're not there yet. How long have Pep and Klopp needed?
The biggest difference between the two scenarios will be how the mdedia (mis)represents them.

Liverpool were "really unlucky" with injuries, while we'll be perceived as not good enough / lacking depth.

The reality is that both squads were unfortuante + lacking in depth, compared to their immediate rvials.

Hmm, my money would still be on Feb/ March. Ange has been very pessimistic when asked about him.

Sess will no doubt be back, get a run of 2 games and then get injured for 6 months.

Fingers crossed his operation has fixed his ongoing issues. I have doubts he will be that useful anyway, I think he plays with too much fear.

We have GLC, Kulu, Bentancur, Donley. They might not be at Madison's level as a 10 but they aren't PEH.

I'm not asking for a complete change in tactics or a total revamp of the team selection. I'm saying there needs to be some compromises one way or another.

Drop me he lene 5-10 yards whilst we have such a slow back line.

Not expect them to pass out from the back under pressure every time leading to constantly turning over the ball in our own half.

It's like owning a Michelin star restaurant and when your head chef gets ill bringing in the guy from the dog and duck and expecting the same quality of food. Just tweak the menu to suit FFS. It doesn't have to be whole sale changes but as I've been saying all week those players selected Saturday just can't play that way and it really is as simple as that. Just depends how many points he's willing to sacrifice I guess.
While I completely agree with you, we kinda know he won’t compromise on his style of play. So for that reason we’re gonna be playing out from the back regardless of who plays and we will lose the ball a lot more!

I think he’ll be doing it to force Levy’s hand slightly in the market to get him another CB atleast in Jan!

Personally I would sack off GLC and get another No 10/Creative hub in who is younger too. We need to grow a squad capable of competing over the next 2 windows I think and I’d hope Ange is backed!

With the return of Udogie that provides a little more stability at the back but what can we really change? If Ange changes the style and philosophy now is that something that would unsettle the squad? If Phillips is thrown in and gets off to a bad start that could shatter his confidence. The midfield is devoid of that spark Maddison brought that was unlocking Son bringing others into play. Do we have anyone in the ranks that is close to Maddison's levels of creative threat?
i suspect that there is less risk with Phillips than you think. The mindset Ange cultivates is to not be afraid to make mistakes. That may take a while to drive out of some player's heads. At the same time if he did have a bad game, Ange would prioritize working with him to insure his confidence would be intact.

it is inevitable when it was vdv OR Tapsoba instead of vdv AND Tapsoba. the board never learns
I think it will all be different if we did sign both it will mean Tapsoba will likely to be starting the season than VdV. He may or may not be better, and VdV may or may not be as good as he's now. Too many causes and effects happenings.

I'm more gutted the transfer of Hojbjerg to Fulham didn't materialise, which we could be more likely to get Tosin in. I guess that swap deal would really be more doable. Not that I'm too impressed with Tosin at that time, but considering the options now, he's definitely more mobile than Dier. 🤦🏻‍♂️

VDV would likely have been rotated with Udogie a bit too though of course.

Too much to expect us to completely help the manager and bring two centre backs in though despite him asking for them pretty much as soon as he walked through the door. We all moaned about it all summer because we knew this scenario would happen.

You’d have preferred we sold hojbjerg and got tosin than if we’d have just signed tapsoba?
