IMHO yesterday showed that we are a lot closer to having a decent squad than we thought
We have had 12 Regular starters out learning a new system this season, having lost Kane as the season started.

Yes we lost 3 on the trot, though any team would with our key players out some of the time we were the better team in the 3 we lost. The Chelseas game was a freak. We were the better side, till romero and udogie lost the plot. The same with Villa when Cash smashed Bents . I really feel it was a deliberate and Cash should have got a red and definitely a retrospective red.

The interesting thing is how Ange has adapted to the adversity, and proved that even without Maddison, Peresic, Romero, VDV, Bents, Sarr, the "Harry Kane reserve team" can go away to arguably the best team in the world with no recognised CH and get a 3-3 draw. Especially as a lot of the side that were on the pitch could not sting a pass together under Conte.
For me ta miracle thats up there with................. walking on water.
No wonder they call him Ange


I honestly think it is not inconceivable for us to acheive great things this season, if we can get some consistency in the next few games. We have to do it in the next few games till XMAS, as we get players back.
I believe our first team when fully fit is actully a match for anyone in this league.

I have been watching spurs for an extremely long time and its the most excited i have been about our prospects since the early 60s.

They missed a number of chances, we took most of ours. Please let's not fall into the same old trap of thinking that our squad isn't all that far off. Too often we 'settle' for ok players as back up meaning that the starting 11 is pretty well established and we don't give players as much rest as we should through fear of it weakening our line up. Two quality players in every position must be what we strive for.

Looking at some Ange tactics videos etc recently it got me thinking that when we build-up our play and attack we are essentially a 2-3-5 formation which is quite interesting because that is basically how football started off, then 70's-90's you have a lot of 4-4-2 and some 4-3-3 and 3-5-2 then 00's-2020's a lot of 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3 and 3-4-3 and now early 2020's and you have Ange and Pep etc essentially attacking in a 2-3-5 so we have come full circle!!!

I'd love to have seen the reaction in England if Ange had come over here in say the 80's and set teams up to play like this, he'd have been a laughing stock from the boring 4-4-2 stiff brits, maybe it wouldn’t have worked that well because of the mudbath pitches anyway but still just interesting that Ange's super out there maverkick tactics are essentially how football used to be many moons ago!

I don't think he got the credit he deserved from the city game.

Pre-match interviews asking if he'll "keep playing the same way" has become a meme to the point that I don't think they actually watched the fucking game.

Things were going badly for us in the first half.

He made a clear tactical change at half time.

And it worked.

He deserves credit for that.

Was gonna make a similar comment, the genius 3-4-3 with a box midfield is literally the W-M that was around decades ago and which was slightly tweaked by Cruyff, who used a diamond midfield instead of box at Barca, with none other than Pep as his CM

I love Ange and completely understand what he is trying to do, I hope he’s here for a very long time. That being said my concern with this approach is that we may not be the club that it truly works for (hear me out). Give him what he wants and it’s clear that he will deliver but aside from Man City, which club truly provides their coach with the exact players they need. Our squad will never be perfect and so we will need to adapt when we are struggling with injuries etc. Like I say I’m more than happy with his approach at this stage and understand what he is doing but I hope that he is more adaptable further down the line. It’s been said that the greatest managers never stray from their philosophies but I’m not sure this is true. I think the greatest managers have many ways of playing and can outfox their opponents by taking a different approach when necessary.

We've played 14 games in the league. We really haven't even seen his philosophy being fully implemented/realized yet.

Talk of a different approach when he hasn't even set the full foundations for his style of play are very premature and speak to a lack of trust in the process.

He has a clearly mapped out plan for the team and it's development.

Let's see how it all plays out instead of concerning ourselves with how it might not work, when we've already seen clear signs of vast improvement on several fronts.

For me, this is the real issue over some of the defending. It's almost hard baked in us to take our feet off the gas when we're in the lead.

Still only coming alive when we're chasing the game. Players like Hojberg & Davies only come alive and start doing the right things when it feels like the game is going against us in one way or another.

It's weird because we talk about mentality in the face of adversity, but we seem to be missing that aggression when it feels like we have control of the game.

The Chelsea game could’ve been that one. If Son had held back a few inches we were 2-0 up after 16 mins and who knows what happens then; we were absolutely flying.
I’ve no doubts when everyone is back fit and available, this will happen.
