Newcastle have only won one game away from home in all competitions this season, the 8-0 drubbing of Sheffield United.

Somethings got to give for us eventually.

Last night's game, like the Villa game was indicative of a team lacking a bit of conviction and facing some occasional bad luck.

I laughed out loud when the commentator was listening to called the West Ham's win a Moyes Masterclass? At what? Luck?

They only had one good chance all game and fluffed it.

Bowen's goal was a sheer fluke. Nothing else. The second goal was Udogie and the goalie both making mistakes.

West Ham did not win that game. We lost it. It was a masterclass in what happens when you don't go for the jugular and kill a team off. Something we simply don't seem to have in our locker right now. Something that would probably be a little easier if both Bentancur and Maddison are fit. As they are our smartest and most technical players.

Last night, we had very little conviction in the final third. That was evident.

We will sadly see a very similar game on Sunday. And until this team had manufacture a win to restore some confidence, this will continue to be the case.

As for whining about Ange. Have at it, for those that need to vent. But, I respectfully disagree about naivety and needing to adjust.

But that's a debate for another thread.....

Ange has 8 appointments in 15 years - 7 in 11 years at club level - yet the narrative is that Conte doesn't stay anywhere for long so was not worth backing.
This is pointless surely?

Did you go to any of the games? The atmosphere was poisonous, the football was dismal, the fans were miserable.

Football is about more than results, otherwise we'd all support Madrid or City.

Anyway, this is dull as shit and I'm sorry for dragging it out further. The bloke has gone and I wish him well.
In his second season, yes.

the season he got us 4th the atmosphere was fantastic. That night we battered the scum was a joy to behold and the stadium was rocking!

Well it's at theirs Sunday but we do seem better on the road this season
I think we miss Maddison more at home where teams are generally more defensive and we miss his dribbling to pull players around and end product

as sorry you're right , for some reason thought it was away, not sure that's a good thing or not. I hope the atmosphere is better though, seemed a bit flat on tv last night. We really need to get behind the lads.

By the same logic, Having 90% possession doesn’t count as dominating a game either.

Dominating a game should only mean one thing, one side had the tactical superiority and it manifests as a big goal difference which all of those games had.

The 6-1 drubbing of United under JM was a dominant performance, for example.
If we were taking our chances, we would be fully walloping teams. It was never gonna happen in one window. We’ve seen how we are with our strongest 11 playing… once we’ve got a squad tuned into the style, we’re gonna be rampant…

Even with our decimated squad we could and should have put games to bed.
We need patience to build the squad

So there is not a level above us for Ange to "progress" to? Because if there is, then by the logic of some fans we should not be backing him because he doesn't stay anywhere very long.

FTR I am not anti Ange, I am pointing out the hypocrisy and irrationality of some fans such as;

We shouldn't back Conte because he doesn't stay anywhere very long - yet the facts prove that neither does Ange (for whatever reasons)
Conte is an EPL winner - Ange isn't - but we should back Ange anyway
Conte plays boring football - Ange is all about attack - we averaged 2 goals a game in the Prem under Conte (same as Ange)
Conte had Kane - Ange hasn't - Conte took a worse squad in 10th place to top 4 without a pre-season. 1 player, however good, doesn't make up for the dross Conte had to work with when he arrived (No Romero for his first 3 months in charge due to injury) he went his first 9 Prem games unbeaten with a defence put together from the likes of Emerson, Doherty, Sanchez, Tanganga, Dier, Rodon, Davies, Reguilon and Sessignon. He had PEH, Winks, Skipp, Ndombele a washed up Dele and an injured GLC to choose from in midfield.
Conte needs 500M+ of players and we are never going to spend that kind of money - Conte done ok at Inter without that kind of budget - 2 of our better players this season, Porro and Udogie came in on Conte's watch for a combined 60M +/-

Show Conte some respect.
You're responding to someone who was very supportive Conte until his final weeks.

The issue with Conte, and it was all along, was that he was looking for a way out the door in his final season.

Everything else is irrelevant. It ultimately didn't matter.

He self sabotaged our season ar a critical point. For that I won't forgive him.

Yes he has achieved a lot more than Ange but Ange only made it to Europe 2 and half years ago.

Hardly a fair comparison.

You can't compare the two. Totally different coaches, totally different beliefs in football, 2 totally different characters and 2 totally different histories.

We are not comparing Jose with Conte.

Conte had PLENTY of respect when he arrived but HE, and no-one else, tossed that aside when he decided to set everything on fire cause he had zero patience to change the club - a man who even said it would take several windows to change yet gave up after 2.

We also had some very poor results during Poch’s first season, especially during the first half of the season. I think it wasn’t really until the Chelsea match on New Year’s Day that we could really start to see what he was building towards.
Even then we reverted to type with a draw with Burnley (in the cup) and a loss to Palace in the following 2 games.

I agree that long term we need a clinical striker and a good one-on-one winger that can go on the outside as well as cut in and it would help a lot with the situation we are in at the moment but just wanted to add some perspective.

IMO, we have 4 CMs of whom pretty much any combination of any 3, would make a very good CM3 for our tactics but 3 of those are injured and the other is out of form.

Man City look a shadow of themselves when Rodri and De Bruyne are out, in fact they have lost every game this season that both haven't been available and not lost a single game that Rodri has played.

Liverpool were average to poor last season when their CM needed a rebuild.

Take Odengaard, Rice and Partey out of Arsenal's CM and I bet they would struggle.
