Im no fan of Daniel Levy however t does make me laugh how everyone is quick to jump On the bandwagon from one piece of ITK blaming him for not producing the funds for more signings. Now maybe this is true maybe it isn’t.

However surprises me how many people are quick to defend the “Don” Paratici, maybe just maybe he isn’t this amazing Director of football who Is a wiz in the transfer market with buying and selling players as we have been led to believe.

To be fair he has been in the job for two months and had a difficult transfer window to deal with considering the lack of money in European football. I’m not sure he can be fully judged just yet. For me it’s been an ok start to the job. He has brought in some promising players started to shift the deadwood. Will see how things pan out after this season and the next summer transfer window before fully judging him/

I agree. He can’t really be judged until this time next year really. I think we have intentionally cut the wage levels in the squad to take advantage of the free transfer market next summer. He operated in that a lot at juventus and I suspect levy got him in for that
alongside younger players.

In a few months he has appointed a manager, sold 5 ageing players and brought in 5 players who are young and have far more potential. We have kept Kane which he said we would from day one. The whole club has a positive feel around it now. Now I am of the belief we are one attacking player short however paratici will work hard to look at future targets and maybe feels he can get who he wants in January which is only 4 months away.

To all those saying where are the goals going to come from to replace those Vinicius, Lamela and Bale scored last season

1. If Scarlett plays in a decent side against the likes of Marine and Carlos Kick-a-ball XI in the cups he will perform as well as Vinicius.
2. Dele was totally frozen out last season, but he is a key player this season and will get a tidy amount of goals if the first three games are anything to go on.
3. Lamela was not prolific. It was one of the reasons we needed to move him on and replace with someone with more end product. Gil is hopefully that person.
4. Bergwijn and Moura spent most of last season playing as extra full backs, under Nuno they will stay high. I’d be surprised if both do not double their tallies from last season.

I’m assuming you haven’t read Herc’s or Trix’s take on this window ?

@parklane yid has a positive balanced analysis.

Trix & Herc shared great info but this is an analysis on where we are at not what could’ve been, it’s not all negative.

Some people shit the bed about Nuno and look what a breath of fresh air he’s been.

The window was good we were just lacking one more attacking signing which for one reason or another didn’t happen but I think we are fine until January for sure, also remember we are in ECL not Champions League so Kane/Son will get rested a lot in that I reckon.

Good for you mate, I’m happy you’re all good with it all, I’m not.

Check my previous posts and I’m generally positive about things.

I’m just shocked there werent more loans or desperation sales available today.

The financial challenge of clubs across Europe must have been vastly overstated.

I actually feel ok about the window in general but the lack of a right forward/Kane backup is almost criminal.

I’m not sure how Levy and Paratici could have been this far apart on what $ were available and not having any plans if we had to go to plan b or c.

I’d say it was a 6-7/10 window all things considered.

But the squad is now only 2 players away from where it needs to be imo so I’m optimistic that we are in decent enough shape to maintain an effort on top 4 until January at least.

Nuno likes a small tight squad and we are in ECL not CL so we don’t need a huge squad this year.

The below 22 doesn’t have many weaknesses.

Lloris,Gollini

Emerson Royal, Tanganga
Romero, Sanchez
Dier, Rodon
Regullion, Davies

PEH, Winks
Skipp, Lo Celso
Dele, Ndombele(weakness due to attitude) or Gil as no.8

Son, Bergwijn
Kane, Scarlett
Lucas, Gil

Doherty and Sessengon left over, Sess can also play a few games at LB or LW in ECL and early stages of cup competitions.

For me we still lack 2 things:
1) upgrade on CM (which I think we will get once we can shift Ndombele) but it’s our fault for spunking £54mil on a player who doesn’t have the right attitude
2) Top class AM/ST back/up but I think for now given we are not in the CL we should be ok playing Scarlett as we rate him very highly and then son can cover some games also.

Its not ideal and Traore or a back-up striker would’ve probably meant we were all pretty happy, if we’d added to that E.g. Neves CM if Ndombele had been sold then we’d be in an amazing place but for the budget we had I think FP has done a very good creative job.

If Kane and Son don’t get injured we’ll be just fine, if they do then hopefully Gil and others can step up, and if not then we will HAVE to rectify it in January.

I thought this too. Then again, there will still be clubs in the shitter in 3 months time, maybe even more so depending on contracts etc. May well be more of an active January than previous ones.

In general, without any problems we’re 2-3 players short IMVHO. A reserve/rotation striker, a playmaker ( we still haven’t replaced Eriksen ) and if a great window, an X factor such as Traore.
For me, a 5.5-6 window.

Goalkeeping situation looks a lot better now. Hart was an atrocious backup, we've sold him and massively upgraded with Gollini.

Defensively we look better. Failed to move on deadwood but Romero and Emerson are both good additions, and if Tanganga is set to play more of a role then we should be looking pretty healthy. Add to that the fact that good coaching and management means Dier and Sanchez can show that they're actually decent players.

Midfield is probably the main area of concern. Sarr is a promising buy, but I feel we may have left ourselves a little short for this season - but with Ndombele, Lo Celso, and Dele all competing for one position, you'd have to imagine one of them will prove worthy.

Forward line looks improved with Gil. Perhaps a little sparse - five players for three positions - but that may see Sess and Dane given a chance to make a name for themselves. We'll see. Keeping Kane and extending Son is much better than expected.

In every area Paratici has left our squad younger, and brought in players with massive potential. And he's done it without spending ridiculous sums, and with some clever deals (loans to buy, the Moriba deal, etc.). Good first window.
