Never heard of him personally but I don't really follow foreign football. So, over to the guys that do.

@Ossie85 has mentioned the link to Lanzini, and suggested that River Plate are prepared to do business.

Lanzini is a technically gifted AM who made his River debut at 17 and has spent a season on loan at Fluminese, playing regularly for both clubs.

From the glimpses I've seen, he has very quick feet, and is a good dribbler. He's tiny though, around 5'6".

I look forward to Ossie85's scouting report as to how he would adapt to the EPL and playing in Poch's system. :)

He's for sale as River needs money. I think Besiktas had a 6m bid accepted but Lanzini rejected it.

One of Lamela's best friends

Has some problems with consistency but he is unstoppable when he's in a good day. Big game player though. Always appears in the big/important games.

He's best suited as an AM starting from the left, something like Hazard (same height)

He will need to strengthen but could potentially be a very very good signing imo

He also has an italian passport, so he won't need a WP

Wonder if we'll make a move for his teammate Balanta too, considering that River are struggling financially and our need for another CB.

...but I thought the ITK was referring to work permit problems? If he's got a EU passport then it would be simple?

1) Born in Argentina in 1993, Lanzini would go on to represent River Plate’s youth team from 2002 until 2010.

2) He has made 89 senior appearances for River Plate so far, scoring 13 goals and providing 14 assists in that time.

3) Lanzini previously enjoyed a loan spell at Brazilian side Fluminense, where he made 33 appearances, scoring three goals and setting up three more.

4) Predominantly an attacking midfielder, Lanzini can also operate on either flank when required. This flexibility is no doubt one of the reasons he is said to be attracting so many suitors. He also has an impressive disciplinary record, having never been sent off and receiving just nine bookings in 122 appearances.

5) Yet to win a full cap for Argentina, the 21-year-old has however played five times for the country’s under-20 team, during which time he has found the net twice.

The Italian passport of a South American player has caused us problems in the past (Rodrigo Defendi!) so perhaps we're making absolutely sure there's nothing untoward.

That argentine was supposedly 19 and it was going to be tough to get a work permit, and JJ said no one would guess who it was, even the FM players. So probably not.
Maybe JJ said we wouldn't guess it because half the information we had was wrong?

but as other people have said he's the wrong age - good work bring up Defendi though, blast from the past

The one that needs WP is Driussi (storts said so). There's not contest imo. They would command a similar fee, and one is the star of the first team, and the other has only 2/3 games in the first team

Such a shame to see Manuel Lanzini join Al-Jazira. Not sure he had what it takes to be a world beater, but now we'll never know.

Bit dramatic Spursh tbh. I'm sure it's not the end of him and he won't get shot or anything or his career come to a complete standstill. Maybe, just maybe he will do well there also and move onto other things. Then I guess we will know! :)
