Was watching this game, the the chance at 50min shows the fine margins. Just his finishing letting him down at the moment, which he is usually very good at when it comes to finding corners

it is strange how his finishing seems to have deserted him, not that he was ever lethal but was still fairly reliable in front of goal, maybe he needs a few months training with kane. would love to see him finishing those chances but i'll still take the positives out of it and say that not many players would have worked themselves into that position to begin with. it's a bit like with sterling today where they mentioned in commentary how a couple of years ago he wouldn't have scored those goals, it may take marcus some time to get there but i still think he can with a bit more patience and experience. there was a good pass and a good tackle in there too which saved a probable goal, he's never going to be the greatest of defenders but he is doing his bit which was/is one of the main criticisms aimed at him.
Would you say he’s playing well enough to justify a squad place next season?now got an assist with a nice through ball. 2-1.

The fact that the crowd get on their feet when he has the back fells me what I need to know, he’s not at a stage where in men’s football he’s expected to make something happen or do something exciting, difficult to say as he's essentially playing for a team about the level of a cardiff or southampton(relative to their league) so who knows how he'd do playing with the quality of players we have here. he's still a work in progress and he's certainly not ready to displace any of our current starting attackers but as someone who could offer something different off the bench he could be worth a place. i think it would be better for his overall development to carry on playing regularly elsewhere though, maybe feyenoord would be good for him as they've next door to excelsior so wouldn't need to adapt to a new place, just new teammates.
today wasn't actually one of his better games imo but when he plays well without scoring or assisting people just assume he didn't do anything so i guess today goes towards balancing out those games. the crowd were on their feet every time he got the ball in the 2nd half and you can see his confidence growing and he's starting to find his feet in the final third, as i said before he may be a slow burner and not make it until he's 22/23 or so but every game he shows signs at the very least of his potential.
