This is a strange one since we're covered in his position, we have Eriksen and Lamela in the playmaker roles. Would Gotze or one of those 2 drop back to compete for a spot in the midfield 2?

If we are in for him then surely it has to be a good thing, a statement of intent, especially If Poch wants him and he fits in with his philosophy.

If he indeed goes to Dortmund it would seem a very Lebron James thing to do. Leave the team that made you a star to chase money and titles then return to reclaim hero status. Only caveat is that Dortmund fans seem way more intense so it may all go
At first I read that as "to chase money and titties" or maybe that's what you really meant

I'm not sure No 10 is is best position, pretty sure will drop back a little and become a box to box midfielder.
We finally have a midfielder who actually makes runs beyond the striker and scores goals. He just had a great breakthrough season playing that role and you think he should drop deeper? He has been the best in that role behind a lead striiker since VDV. In fact Eriksen is more suited to that deeper role because he's the one that will play with his head up and Alli playing between the lines.

If we sign another attacker there will be a fair bit of rotation in those positions. We'll likely be playing 60+ games at Pochettino tempo. I expect Eriksen, Alli, Lamela, Son, N'jie/Chadli and possibly another to all rotate and whoever is on from will start the important games.

Could be argued that Gotze at his best could unseat both of them.

Yeah move Alli from his best position, great idea that. Hodgson-esque idea in fact.

Is that how you speak to people you dont know face to face ?
Very keyboard warrioresq of you.
Worse your response wasnt even fucking factual.
Most spurs fans at the time of switching him from cm to am questioned it as him and dier played so well there together.
But hey ho back to the raw steak and testosterone suppliments xx

Bless x

What's stopping him running beyond the striker and getting goals from a deeper CM position rather than a no.10?

Lampard and Gerrard were both very prolific doing this as CM's in the EPL

It does seem to me that he's a more natural box to box CM than he is a number 10 and I also expect him to end up there

Lot of people seem to forget how he and Dier played together when Alli was first put into the lineup. Short memories.
