I like the look of Wijnaldum. And he scores. And he can play many roles for the team - wide or in the centre. I really am curious why Liverpool aren't keen. Gotze has worked with their coach before so is there a problem? Of course Gotze has a high profile and has done well in the past. He would certainly be a signing that shows intent. I'm just not certain that he would be right for us.

One player other player that looks very impressive is Paulo Dybala of Juventus. I'd prefer him to either Gotze or Wijnaldum.

If what is generally regarded is true, then Gotze turned down Liverpool and not the other way around. They wanted him. Wouldn't it be a good sign about him if he turned down a big juicy contract with them for a team like us that are in CL but offering less money ?

Why are Liverpool out of it for Götze? Well 2 possible reasons. They arent in Champions League and they also just signed Sadio Mane for £35m.

Gotze is probably the latest in a long line of players (or their agents) using our "interest" to get the deal they want. Although, Schurley going to Dortmund and their fans clearly not wanting Gotze back makes the situation just a little interesting!

Another way to look at it...... is decisions ....decisions.... Who would I rather have in our squad Ryan Mason , Nabil Bentaleb, Tommy Carroll and Clinton Njie or Mario Gotze...?

If he isn't wanted at Munich then where else could he go? Levy could have another VDV moment, but I doubt that he could pull it off. The wage demands alone would be too high. The only way I can see us getting Götze is if we negotiate a reduced fee due to us being the only club he would consider going to, and we then make up the wage loss with a signing on fee. It could keep his wages from being too inflated compared to our other top earners.

Personally I think we should make a move for Kovacic. His skill set would definitely compliment our team more. :D

Bentaleb shouldn't really be in the discussion and NJie at least offers something different (pace) than the rest of our AM group. It really should be Gotze vs. Pritchard/Mason/Carroll/Chadli. If it came down to it, I know who I'd prefer to have.

We can "get Gotze" for free from Jan 1 17 as we are not in the same country

We do not have to break our pay structure at all

for example

We can start him on say 100k and say over five years average him out at 140k by year 3 when we are in new stadium

we really should go all out for Götze. Firstly because he is a highly gifted player whose superb technique would delight all true football fans. Secondly, he would really ad a spark of creativity to our attacking play.
And thirdly because signing him would be a real statement of intent and make future signings in the elite category just that much easier...

As much as I would love us to sign Gotze I don think this is happening. Just a feeling.
But he is the kind of signing we need. We have done great business so far in Wanyama and Janssen(IMO). Would love to get a real quality AM in.

Draxler's performance against Utd last season was exactly what we need. There's been rumours of the goons being in for him so I hope we've asked about him. I'd imagine we'd get priced out.

I like the little I've seen of Fekir, surprised there have been no links for him anywhere.

I think the fact that Fekir missed most of last season with a cruciate injury has almost certainly scared off many suitors.

Fans are so fickle. They'll love him again if he plays well for them. Simple as that.
But if he doesn't, his life will be a living hell... Glamorous and well paid hell, but you know...

Still, it's entirely possible he will risk going back to Dortmund over us as its "safer".
