And just posted Di Marzio's latest update there. Galliani finished lunch with the Atletico directors. The interest in concrete and there will be further negotiations. He is their main striking target, regardless of who their next manager will be.

Edit - Danger, Danger!! Do not read the rest of this post - it turns out it's crap!!

"I just don't believe clubs in Italy have the sort of finances to compete if we were really prepared to put in a 'sizeable offer'. Juventus turnover is £51.9 and then things start rapidly going down from there. Not really the financial (or footballing :cautious::whistle:) powerhouses they once were".

Well done Hoops - well dodged. I think you might have just got away with that one!

Not that I believe there is anything in this(I don't), but no striker should be coming here to be an understudy to Kane, and we shouldn't be looking for one that is happy to be. Kane has just had a great season and has the world at his feet, but he will only push on if he has competition for his place. Top sides have rotation options(to give players required rest periods) and competition for a starting berth, not a great starting XI and a team full of understudies.

Yeah but those top sides have the clout to keep such a strong squad happy. In my opinion, we tried doing our scaled down version of your City, Bayern, Real type squads last summer. We had lots of depth(apart from left back) but the scaled down version didn't work, we had too many average performers on big salaries which ended up in a big waste of money for the most part.

We've been at our most competitive when we've had clear structure in our squad, good players and a couple of real stand out players filling our first 11 and then a couple of extra good players on the bench and the rest fairly ordinary. I think if we were to spend big money on a striker then they'd have to be able to play another position in our starting 11 too, unless we plan on playing Kane in a deeper role at times, otherwise we're not getting the benefit that we could get spending that money elsewhere on a player that would be a real step up from what we already have.

That's the way I see it anyway.
