wow, this is sad to see. He was one of the best defenders in the league and was pivotal in the resurgence of Aston Villa into becoming of the best teams in the country. He's been plagued with injury for as long as I can remember.

Notice the scary resemblance with Ledley's whole situation

sucks for villa, fantastic player and he's in his prime for a defender. that said i expect them to get hangelaand this summer, so it won't be that big a blow.

The one thing I'll always remember him for was savagely scything Solskjaer down in the penalty area during a Norway-Demark qualifier six-seven years ago and totally getting away with it, then elbowing someone in the face later in the game and AGAIN getting away with it.

But there's no denying that he was a great player and always came across as a decent guy when I heard him interviewed.
