Anyone care to enlighten on the %, situation, if this is accurate...etc..

Reported in May we had a sell on clause..
http://www.espnfc.us/story/2445841/aston-villa-confident-over-massimo-luongo-deal-sources
"Sources have told ESPN FC that Swindon are holding out for a big fee for Luongo as Tottenham have a sell-on clause guaranteeing them 50 percent of any future transfer away from the County Ground."

Seems to be moving for a few million..
http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/32899840

EDIT: He has been signed by QPR
@MassLuongo "I am delighted to have signed for @QPRFC. Can't wait to pull on the Hoops #QPR

QPR announced it on their twitter as well. There was no indication of a 2nd player...
So either
1) There won't be and we will get a decent fee
2) There will be and the fee for the 2nd player will be inflated to balance a low fee for Luongo
3) The fees will be independent of each other.

I read an article indicating that Aston Villa were going to make a double bid for him and someone else. And that they were going to load the amount in favour of the other guy so that the sell on fee was reduced.
Probably BS but still worth keeping an eye on

I heard that Villa were gonna do a moutinho kind of deal to monaco. Where they buy two players from the same club and register it as a high fee for one and next to nothing for the player with a sell on fee.
Thats how they could get round it.

I just hope Chris Ramsey plays the game and QPR get two players, while Spurs pick up a decent bonus.

Seems like its something that happens every now and again - we got stung a bit with Dos Santos IIRC, but we may also have tried something similar with Davies/Vorm.

Edit: The one thing that might have worked in our favour is that we apparently had a buyback clause which if they were selling for an obviously small fee - we might have been able to try and buy him back, however presumably he could always refuse.

Surely that would be blatantly obvious and reportable to the FA ?

How?

What can anyone do to stop it. If Swindon value him at 500k and Gladwin at 6mil (he was the other in the joint deal) and Villa agreed what can the FA do?

I dont know, but I dont think Levy would be stupid enough to not realise that this could happen to any player with a sell on clause and not have something in place.

It's such an obvious ploy I would imagine any competent lawyer would have put a clause in the original contract to prevent it otherwise sell on fees would be worthless.

"A bag of chips for Messi and £250M for your 42 year old reserve team GK Kevin Clubfoot? Deal .".

Meh. If we wanted to do something about it, we could've bought Luongo back for the agreed buyback and then sold him to QPR, just as Stuttgart did with Kimmich to Bayern in January.

Well, in that case, Swansea and us should be reported to the FA/UEFA also with the Davies+Vorm for Siggy thing when Vorm essentially came on a free, thereby negating the sell on clause Utrecht had on him

I should imagine Tim will be spitting feathers if Chris and Les has nipped in and pinched his targets from under his nose. All three of them will doubtless know how the sell-on clause works and I am sure neither they nor Cooper will be looking to do Spurs any favours.

If neither Mass nor Ben continue to be options for him, then I can imagine Tim will be upping his efforts to raid Spurs development squad for central midfield reinforcements: Carroll would be an obvious target, as would Veljkovic or even Winks.

Pretty sure that the player would get a say in any buy back arrangement, and I can't see what there would be in it for Mass in those circumstances.

Not sure about that actually, with buyback clauses he may have no say in the matter. In the previous example, Kimmich gained nothing from Stuttgart buying him back, but they did nonetheless.

He's gone with Ben Gladwin, so you'd imagine that they've found a way around it...

Either way, I'm happy for him. Had hoped we might nab him back, because he's an Aussie, but hopefully he does well at QPR. Its the right step up, no need to try and break into the PL yet.

We don't have privy to what the Luongo contract was or is there a sell on fee.......For all you know the Sell on Fee is only activated should a BPL team bidded.....So if QPR buys him now, and TS buys the season after cheaply, Spurs would not get anything. But as i said, we don't have privy to what was in Luongo contract. But of coz, Ramsay and TS will know.
