Gomes 4 - was at fault for the first goal, simply not good enough although harry's lack of confidence in him is worrying.

Gunter 5 - not good enough, terrible defensive play for the 2nd goal.

Huddlestone 6.5 - played well

Dawson 7 - not a donkey anymore

Chimbonda 5 - horrendous touch and passing accuracy

Bentley 4 - if we could get £5million for him I would take it tomorrow

Zokora 5.5 - some nice break ups but still cannot pass more than 15 yards

Parrett 6.5 - played well for a debutee

Jenas 7 - good game for JJ DC Boy must be pleased :)

Giovanni 6.5 - played well in the 1st half not as well in the 2nd

Campbell 6 - played ok

SUBS:

Bent 4 - HAHAHAHAHAH please never play for my team again

Bostock - n/a

Gomes - 5.5 - the blame for goal 1 has to be shared between him and the defenders who let three shakthar players stand totally unmarked in the line of the ball.

Gunter - 5.5 - not great
Dawson - 7 - our MotM, but still not better than decent
Huddlestone - 6.5 - OK
Chimbonda - 5.5 - definitely isn't an LB, as we knew from last time around

Bentley - 5.5 - Not good
Jenas - 7 - Did some good things, a couple of good runs forward and only bad luck and dodgy bounces on the crap pitch meant that he couldn't take advantage of them
Zokora - 6 - Half a mark down for giving away the FK that led to 1-0
Parrett - 6.5 - Good debut on a tough ground in poor conditions, very good second half
Giovani - 6.5 - did a bit of battling in the first half

Campbell - 5.5 - why is he still with us?

Gomes 4 - I am a fan but he was embaressing the way he reacted to the goal. Think Cudicini will definately be our no1

Gunter 5 - Looked a bit nervy and gave the ball away 2 much

Huddlestone 6 - Solid

Dawson 8 - MOM by a mile - fantastic

Chimbonda 6 - Made a couple of quality challenges

Bentley 4 - Very disappointing

Zokora 6 - Thought he worked his socks off though distribution as always a bit poor

Parrett 6 -Solid and reliable and kept possession well. Sure there is much more to come

Jenas 7 - Worked hard as always

Giovanni 7 - Our most creative player by a mile but didnt have the ball enough

Campbell 7.5 - Thought he worked tirelessly on his own

Im going to group them up.

Defence - 7 - Largely solid, chimbonda and gunter were pretty poor though.

Midfield - 5 - Largely average, Zokora and Parret the best of a poor bunch.

Attack - 4 - Campbell did nothing nor did he help his own cause. The midfield didn't help much either..

Rackybear - 2 - Poor decision making, especially in the last 10 minutes.

I tried to give a MoTM, but i couldn't. Not one player played to a standard i would want from a first team player.

Urggh.. i guess i will give it to Dawson as he was probably the best, but it was just very poor all round.

Gomes - 5 - poor distribution.
Chimbo - 4 - gave the ball away far too much
Daws - 6 - ok
Gunter - 5 - average defending, nothing going forward, cant pass
Zoko - 4 - just awful
Bentley - 1 - didn't realise he was on the pitch
Jenas - 6 - Did ok, few nice spells
Parrett - 5 - only a kid, did alright
Gio - 5 - did ok.. nothing really productive
Campbell - 3 - nothing... Didn't have much help but produced nothing.

Bent - 2 - nothing

I disagree.
Yeah but you do on principle.

Who exactly was better? It's not like any of them covered themselves in glory, Parrett had a good debut and was ok, Bentley was not good enough and if Zokora hadn't done a ... well, Zokora, they would never have got the FK that led to 1-0.

There is an element of shite within our squad. This was clearly demonstrated by Gomes, Gunter, Chimbonda, Bentley, Campbell and Bent. Gio is a fancy dan without any end product. Jenas, Zokora and occassionally Parrett were OK. Dawson and Hudd did little wrong

I can not be bothered to offer an opinion on all of the, but i thought Giovanni is starting to come back to a bit of form after a long lay off.

Dawson was his usual solid self tonight.

David Bentley needs removing as soon as possible. Despite the hype, Dave old boy, you are shit and clearly out of your depth, please take Zokora with you and go and find your level at Conference north.

Quite frankly, them two are an embarrasment to the club, when i think of all the great midfielders i have seen over the last tweny five years, and then i see those two in a white shirt........

Gomes 4.5 Had hardly anything to do made an error for first goal and very poor distribution.

Gunter 6 Thought he was ok

Huddlestone 6 was ok

Dawson 8 Was excellent

Chimbonda 5 poor game playing out of position

Bentley 5 Ineffective with only one target

Zokora 3 Was like playing a man down, shocking control, cant tackle, gave the ball away on several occasions.

Parrett 6.5 Good debut

Jenas 6.5 decent game

Giovanni 7 made a stake for a first team spot in my opinion

Campbell 5 No support but still offered very little

Bent 5 Little time

Bostock no time

Perhaps I was watching a different game to you, but aside from the silly foul for the first goal, I thought Zokora had a good game. We shouldn't be surprised by the result really, we almost got away with a workman like performance but in reality going away to the Ukrainian champions, who only just missed out on the latter stages of the champions league, with what is probably approaching our 3rd team, was only ever going to end one way. I'm guessing we're out now, as we won't commit our best players to the 2nd leg just before the CC final.

I have to agree. I also thought Zokora had a half decent game.

There is an obsessive hatred for Zokora on this site, for which I struggle to comprehend at times.

Eek

Wow! We were evidently watching different games! Fair play to your opinion and I won't have a go at it, but I thought GDS was very, very poor today and he did nothing to suggest that he's even a contender for a first XVIII squad place for me. (Not that anyone else apart from Dawson was much cop, but GDS - and Bentley, and one or two others - was amongst the worst of a bad bunch tonight.)

yep I voted jj MOTM as although i'm happy with Daws getting it, I thought jj wouldn't get the recognition he deserved

a good captain's performance and deffo the best mid on the park for us

I thought gds put in a good stint but not as good in 2nd half as first

I would have taken parrett off at HT but to be fair he did better in 2nd half - still think bostock is a better bet then him

but if they both start next week it's fine by me
