Rough translation:

United offered 60 million for Kovacic ... but the player does not want to go to Old Trafford

"The problem in this case is that Kovacic does not want to play at United, so the operation does not seem to come to fruition. The Croatian footballer is clear that he wants to leave Madrid to enjoy more minutes, but the style of Manchester does not fit and that is why he does not plan to attend the operation that has started the English team through the intermediary Vlado Lemic, which has been the one sent by United to try to carry out the operation.

Kovacic will join the preseason of Real Madrid in the coming days and insist on his idea of leaving, although Lopetegui will try to convince him that he can be an important player in the white team. The idea of Madrid is also to retain him, so the future of Kovacic will be one of the hottest cases of Real Madrid this summer."

It's encouraging that it seems we've at least spoken to Real Madrid about their CM log jam.

Good on Kovacic for telling miserable Mourinho to stuff his anti-football.

Hopefully Old Trafford will be feasting on Fellaini's exploits next season...

If we’re moving to 4-3-3, as pre-season has suggested, and therefore we play 2 wingers but 3 CMs I cant see why we’d go big on Zaha rather then Kovacic (or another top class CM), especially for a similar price.

I’m sure there’s a reason and thinking behind it but I can’t see it ngl, maybe poch really does trust the youth CMs.

Because currently we only play 1 winger as opposed to two, Dele and Eriksen occupy 2 of the 3 attacking roles in the 4-2-3-1. Eriksen seems to be dropping out to become a CM option in the 4-3-3, possibly Dele too. Hence the shift in depth issues on the wing.

Either way it's been made clear numerous times we are in the market for both a CM and WF.

Son and Lucas are both wingers tbf

But yeah I see what you’re saying, in a dream world we could get both but I presume a lot of thinking has gone into what to prioritise so I trust poch if a winger is what he wants, especially as Zaha can cover ST

I have a feeling our CM options have been affected by players returning to clubs late from the World Cup, and that's why we haven't heard much on them so far.

We need more than two wingers in the squad if we do go 4-3-3.

I don't like Zaha - but he is HG - and that cannot be ignored.

Having said that, I would much prefer Kovacic from what I think he can add in a 433...

Oh brilliant, another link that doesn’t link us to Kovacic. #welcomekovacic
I mean its not hard to believe that we've at least enquired. Trix with ITK about Ceballos from Real Madrid, the player making it known to the world he wants to be leave. It would be pretty shocking if we haven't at least asked what they want.

I'd be amazed if we weren't interested in signing him but we might see the price as too high. Or maybe Madrid don't want to deal with us, or want to include an agreement that gives them some future right to one of our players. But still it would be flabbergasting if we weren't considering it.
