Nah, watched him closely. No howlerage going on, just a couple of lapses.

Like I said, still need MM for sure. Would keep kabs in the pack though.
Got to disagree I'm afraid. Cole bossed hin, dwells on the ball, dispossessed. Not good enough anymore imo

Would you flog him though, pinks?

I honestly don't know mate. Totally depends what medical/fitness advice Poch is receiving on him. I mean he's deemed fit enough to play but its like he's only playing at 80-90%. That's the only way I can describe it.

If the Club are confident that he will improve with a greater run of consecutive games, supported by what the fitness people are saying, then I wouldn't sell.

Would be surprised if they are confident though.

Can't see us letting him go yet. He looks more mobile to me than he did at the end of lasts season.

I think we're stronger with him unless we can bring someone else in, other than MM, in jan and let him go then.

Would verts/vlad have faired better in the beef stakes (see what I did there) with cole?
I believe Verts would. Wouldn't fancy Vlad. Too weak and again, would probably dwell too long. I like Vlad but wouldn't fancy him against WHU. Whilst I would have probably gone with Kab before the game due to his size and strength, I was very disappointed and have been for a while. Vertonghen is calm but also composed. Kaboul looks clueless to me

I think its Dawson who's more likely to go.

Verts has been bullied plenty of times.

Kabs has definitely lost some of his composure though, granted.

I agree that Jan is more likely to get bullied but he's much more composed, comfortable and less likely to get himself in a bad situation. Obviously he made mistakes last season, but Kaboul looks like a liability to me

Everyone dismissed shawcross when we were linked a while back but cole would not have bullied him yesterday

I couldn't agree more!
Our defense are fragile and we still find it hard to deal with aerial threats and set pieces.
I think we should consider Ron Vlaar as one of the names for plan B.
Vlaar would be my next port of call after mussachio, first and foremost he knows how to organise, fairly quick, doesn't lose a header, strong as an ox and puts his body on the line, all told he knows how to defend and is a double hard bastard to boot and we've got none of them at the moment!

Thought he was better than the end of last season when he came back, so looking at it positively I suppose, just got a feeling he will get better as we go along and gain a bit more of his old self back.

I gotta be fair I don't have any confidence in any defender on our books at the moment, none of them are an all round defender as they've all got their flaws.

How many teams have strikers like Cole who have very little ability but just try to physically dominate? Our issues last season were mostly with trickier, quicker strikers who were able to turn our defenders and get in on goal.

if we can't get MM I still think we can survive until January and then buy someone if necessary

I would like to know what evidence you could be basing this on. Both in terms of quality and in terms of fitness.

I'm a little conflicted about this one. I think like 95% of me realizes that it's more about reading the game and even agility/quickness against the more skillful players in this league. We seldom had problems last season against the hoofball teams (I'll conveniently ignore WHU's legendary treble); we just couldn't live with the better players at all.

That said, I have a secret desire for us to sign some giant bastard preferably with a history of mental illness derived from witnessing atrocities committed in whatever war-torn country he hails from. Just a real hard bastard who everyone in the world would end up hating aside from us. One of those dudes who can make the entire stadium erupt in admiration by twatting it into the third tier.
