There is far too much player power now. It would appear to be alright for players to kick up and throw their teddies in a corner when they want a move, and still have time on their contract, but when the club wants to play them at their own game then it becomes morally wrong. It needs to be sorted.

He was competent, but it was a pre-season friendly, we don't know how he'll do in the Prem. He's only got 30 professional games under his belt so he'd be far better off going on loan for a year. Suits both of us perfectly imo.

i don't think you get it. the more recent a player was signed the better they are so dier is currently super amazing! whereas vlad, well he's old news, he can go.

I thought it was a third party ownership issue that was holding up musacchio's move?

Or is dawson that third party owner thus making it his fault as it's starting to be suggested in this thread?

I don't get how all of a sudden we are ok with Dier on the basis of just 1 pre season friendly and happy to let Vlad go. He was fantastic in the Man u n Everton away games.

Yes he was fairly inconsistent but who wasn't last season. Also isn't it said that defenders take more to adapt than others.

So if Dier is inconsistent this season do we let him go too and buy another defender in his place?

We are not happy to let Vlad go, we are bloody delighted. :D

I think that people over-rate Chirches based on his skill and ability to bring the ball out of defence rather than his defensive abilities which are more suspect. I also think people conveniently forget just how inconsistent he is

I'd like to see what Poch can do with him, Vlad already has the skills that can't be taught. The defensive deficiencies should be able to be coached out of him by a former international defender

You may well be right. However I still have major doubts he will ever achieve the type of consistency we are looking for

It's brutal, but if we get a good offer and him refusing to leave means we don't sign Musacchio then he's seriously holding the club back. It's a last resort option.

No he's not, AVB wanted to sell him but he stayed and fought for his place and at least AVB had the guts to stand up and say he had been wrong and was glad he stayed

I think it's important we keep him with so many question marks over our currenr and hoped for CB options. Eunice still looks a long way of ever getting back his pre injury form, Vlad looks a long way off adjusting to the PL, Dier had an excellent game yesterday friendly, but he his young hasn't played much for Sporting's first team and has no PL experience. Musacchio if we get him though potentially a very good CB may need some time to adjust. Verts is the only other CB aside from Dawson who has gotten some PL experience and who isn't trying to shake off a long term injury problem and to be fair he was just as poor as all our other defenders last season

Personally I'd rather we sell Chiriches as he looks a long way of being a decent PL CB and much as I like Eunice looking at him again yesterday he is still struggling and not looking anywhere near to getting back to his best.

Either way none are holding us back, we might want to add an extra player and so offload one but we gave them all contracts and to my mind there's something seriously wrong with any club that is being held back because of honouring a contract to a player they were happy to give to in the first place

If Vlad is 'a long way off being a decent PL centre back' then I shudder to think what Dawson is.

Vlad and Jan are fine. Kaboul if he's injury free, is fine. Dawson is by far the weakest of the set and by refusing to move is holding us back.

Blinded by a bit of flash, you only have to look at Eriksen getting player of the year for 3 months of football, very average before that, but a bit of flash, ignore the defensive frailties giving away goals and Player of the Season.

To be brief, he's too short, we are buying a short CB, can't play 2 together.
