Bit of a meme club, isn't it? The message is beyond clear - when you stay with the manager while the rest is away at a major tournament, you put in the work and show that you want to improve (Doc, Spence, Gil), you ultimately get the boot. Good job Antonio. Joke.

Can’t blame conte for years of poor recruiting

In a statement towards the end of last season, FIFA said its new rules were based on three core objectives: “Developing young talent, promoting competitive balance [and] preventing the hoarding of players.”

Since July 1 2022, clubs have only been allowed to send eight players on loan to foreign teams. That number will decrease to seven ahead of 2023-23, and then to six a year later.

Very interesting if this goes through. Trippier was transformed from very good PL full back to absolute beast and La Liga winner by his move there. He's probably been the best/most influential defender in the PL since his return.

I can't suggest Doherty has a similar ceiling, but it's an intriguing move and good luck to him. A new culture in many ways will be great for him.

And if he does become a beast of a full back, you have to wonder what we're up to as a club and a sporting culture. At least he comes back to us if that happens!
Tripp's case should provoke the question - where did we go wrong with him? Similarly we bought Doherty because of his time at Wolves were he was very good, then he went stale, and now we'll see. If the outcome is similar to Tripp's, then serious and I mean serious questions need to be asked of our coaching staff.

I am not worried about Doherty being successful at Atletico. Whether through age or injury, he is past his time as an effective PL player.

As Ali Gold reported - we gave Seville 21m plus Erik Lamela back in July 2021 to sign Bryan Gil and we have now just let them have Gil back on loan.

So we have basically given Seville 80m quid and have absolutely nothing to show for it.

Pure fucking madness!!

As was Tripps, right? Spurs fans couldn't get rid of him fast enough
Trippier was 28 when he went to Atletico. Doherty is 31 - and never fully got back to his pre-injury fitness levels this year.

Porro does everything Doherty does - only he is better, and younger. It was time to refresh and move on.

Mate, Spence was bought on HIS watch.

and? Did he want him?
Maybe Comte is in the wrong maybe his in the right maybe Spenser is unfairly treated maybe he needs to work harder

I find it hard to believe he isn’t playing spense if he is working hard and looking good in training

Trippier was toast after conspiring with Southgate to play in a meaningless 3rd/4th playoff, when he was injured. Take that Tottenham!
Once he had surgery, his form was always going to pick up.

Who knows what's wrong with Doherty - my pet theory is he has Long covid. He still has good patches of form and is certainly is worth more than nothing.

Wasn't that why Spence was brought in?

How could he have had more than patches, when patches was all he got?

Here we go, the Spence brought against Conte's wishes theory. Any evidence of that at all? I don't think so.

As he’s out of contract with Madrid at the end of the season he could sign a pre contract with us and return in the summer
