I want Poch to fail miserably there but I’ll cringe heavily if he gets a shitty welcome. I don’t want us to sing his name during the game but before and especially after would be perfect (probably depending on the result….) . He was our best manager for decades and that shouldn’t be forgotten, plus he’s always been very gracious about us.
Exactly. He should get a decent ovation when he first steps out, and that’s it. If we win and he wants some more applause after I’d be fine with that 😆

Probably depending on the result? People should do what they like, obviously, but my brain can’t compute the thought that we get pumped 3-0 to these lot and our fans singing his name after the game. It hurts my head.

Not to be judgmental but if that scenario plays out and some of our fans do sing his name they should be banned for life.
Is that before or after they are given a wedgie and a derogatory kick up the arse?

Is he really saying he still wants to win a trophy with us?

I admire his passion but question his instincts for self preservation.

Think this particular quote was from years ago. Though I still question some of his language in the build-up to this game, not sure I'd be happy as a Chelsea fan (nor would I like to hear Pochettino's quotes if I were them... :sneaky:)

Oh mate.

I’d never scold someone for voicing themselves at a game but worth pointing out that we did sack him in order to replace him with a hasbeen, and when that failed (and he’d got a new job) we tried to get him out of that job, and then when two years later we were both looking we refused to call him. Personally think he has much more right to be fucked off with us than he’s showing, so I can only assume he’s still that decent bloke who still holds affection for us. Personally I wouldn’t boo him; we’re on a new path and he’s still the best manager we’ve had in my lifetime.

Besides, us being sweet with Chelsea’s boss whilst they’re not is quite funny, given how certain they are they’re above us.

I agree there is no need to boo at all. But he has no right to be fucked off with us. We went for him when he was at PSG and he behaved in a weird half-in half-out way about it and ended up staying (typical Pochettino). He could’ve forced PSG’s hand but he didn’t. Fast forward two years and it’s a different landscape. We didn’t lead him on this summer in the slightest. We simply weren’t interested. And that decision is looking (currently) like a very good one.

Looking back to his sacking in 2019, he is trying to paint that in a slightly different context now. He’s saying he could still be here. It didn’t seem like that before the CL final when he was threatening quitting if we won. He had clearly lost his spark and enthusiasm for the job by the 2019-2020 season and his awful awful signings that summer cemented his fate. Jose was a mistake of course but that doesn’t change the context of Poch’s sacking really.

I still like the guy and am grateful for what he did here however I will say his recent comments gushing about our club come across like he realised the grass isn't greener. When he was with us he would flirt with the prospect of moving to Real Madrid one day or entertain the rumours about Man Utd which was annoying. I thought his stint at PSG which has gobbled up managers for years would make him wary about going to a dysfunctional run club that expects instant success but he went to Chelsea and now experiencing the same structural issues. I think he will now realise that while there was significant handicaps at Spurs with the stadium move delays, having to play a full season at Wembley immediately after an incredible last season at the old WHL, the summer of 2018 not signing a single player ..... there was still stability from the fans in backing his project which never will happen at PSG or Chelsea and probably Madrid and Man Utd.

Poch famously said “When Tottenham sign a player who says I have come to Tottenham to win titles THEN they will have made it to the final level”…

Enter Timo:
“One-and-a-half years ago I left England, I watched the Premier League, not too much to follow every single club but Tottenham was always a club which I watched. When I joined my old club, I said I wanted to be a winner and I wanted to win titles at the end, and in the end we won the Champions League so I think it shouldn’t be too bad to say that I’ve come here to also win titles and to win something.”
🏆

We have reached the final level ladies & gents.

Poch has made some bad choices
In defence of him, Chelsea's overall strategy has been ridículous.

Just compare with us a moment.

We decided the club needed big changes. Not necessarily with players but with how we operate and the overall strategy of the club.

How will we play?
What characters do we want?
Do we want to create pathways and sign young players or sign established players?
How will we identify players to fit this?

We defined all of this. Starting with Munn, then Ange, then Lange. Although Fábio's changes probably set the tone behind the scenes.

Boehly came in and basically Said "Lets get the best of everything"

Best young players from Europe and South America.
Best recruitment team
Best coach.

Yet, they didnt bother to set the culture and define their structure properly first.

It has led to a bunch of players who have no cohesion nor stability to fall onto.

And in Poch's case, a coach who has to try and implement their ideas and system onto the players to make a functioning team.

It is almost an impossible job. Especially more so when the owners want to sell players that actually suit what you are trying to implement in order to add elsewhere.

I will say it again. He was silly for going there, desperate either.

Nagelsmann saw it a mile off and ran.

Bohely has provided a lesson for all on how not to start things off at a new club

At this point even if they wanted to sack Poch, could they afford it?

They had the opportunity to sell Gallagher to us or West Ham this window, they priced him out of a move.

Fulham won't have the sort of cash needed to buy Broja on a permanent deal and Gallagher will be in the last year of his contract.

They have to get the cash by the 30th June as well.... 10 point deduction it is then.
