My first - ever Spurs game. was in 1971,vs Torino, Anglo - Italian League Cup 2nd leg. Spurs won the game 2 - 0, having won 1 - 0 away in Turin. For younger fans, the Anglo - Italian League Cup was a short - lived contest between winners of the English & Italian League Cup / Coppa Italia. Wikipedia explains it:

The Football League Cup was changed in 1967 so the winner would be awarded a place in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup. But UEFA did not allow third-tier teams to compete in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup at that time. When Queens Park Rangers won the 1967 League Cup final they were in the Third Division, as were Swindon Town when they won the 1969 League Cup.

The Anglo-Italian League Cup was organised as a way of compensating Swindon for the ruling that prevented them competing in the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1969. A two-legged match was organised with that year's Coppa Italia champions A.S. Roma. The first-leg was held at the Stadio Olimpico, with Roma winning 2–1, but that deficit was overturned in the return leg at the County Ground, Swindon where Swindon won 4–0 making them champions with a 5–2 aggregate.

In 1970, Coppa Italia winners Bologna defeated League Cup winners Manchester City with a 3–2 win on aggregate. The 1971 competition was the last for a few years and League Cup winners Tottenham Hotspur defeated Coppa Italia winners Torino 3–0 on aggregate. It was briefly reinstated in 1975 (winners Fiorentina), this time between the FA Cup and Coppa Italia winners, but only lasted two seasons before being finally scrapped in 1976 (winners Napoli).

Strangely (or surprisingly) enough I was also at that match

I was at my Dad's a couple of weeks ago, and he'd been digging through some of his old stuff and found this:

I don't know is some of our older posters remember these. My Dad would have been 11 when he got it. Inside were a series of cards, one for each club, and the summary of their season, team photo, etc. Naturally, this being 1961 in particular, I dug out Spurs:

And that is why I love football history, nostalgia and memorabilia.

Found myself reminiscing over my first England match while watching these Euros - it was 1989, against Chile at the old Wembley, for the Rous Cup. I was 12, went with my dad, the bloke who lived over the road and his son, in this giant blue Rover Vitesse.

Parked in view of the stadium, in that great car-park that sat next to one whole side of it, I was so excited, I remember having to balance carrying a program and a flag and I had a massive rosette on my shirt, buying a cheap scarf and going up the steps - I've only been to the new Wembley once but it can't compare to the old concrete steps, how much it muffled the sound while you were behind the seats, then you get to the third one from the top and that racket hits you. Unforgettable feeling, I would love to have seen the look on my face as I was definitely catching flies.

Game was a 0 - 0 bore draw but I had the time of my life.

Got home and the car stank like someone had made a campfire out of dead animals in the boot - turns out the dude over the road had driven home the whole way, from Wembley to Chingford, with the handbrake on, but it was a Rover Vitesse so it didn't give a shit.

Is there footage of the Danny Blanchflower one. I remember being told that he told Eamonn Andrews to piss off and they had to scrap the whole thing!! Might be an old wives tale but rings a bell
It's true, according to Wikipedia:

On 6 February 1961, he also became the first person to turn down the invitation to appear on This Is Your Life, simply walking away from host Eamonn Andrews. Contrary to belief, this incident was not broadcast live on air, but was being recorded to be shown at the beginning of the live transmission. "I consider this programme to be an invasion of privacy", he explained. "Nobody is going to press gang me into anything."

Amazing compilation., thanks ! My first ever game at WHL back 55 years ago - I was in the Paxton and to see big Pat at full stretch making saves in front of me - it was the first taste of watching a great goalkeeper at work.
