Never had a chance, better for him to stay at PSV and play champ's league then come to our mess. Would cost a pretty penny as well.Much more then the 10-15 mil Levy is supposedly willing to pay on new talent this summer. Its a real shame tho, think he would have been the perfect signing for us.

His agent is drumming up a move. He's just another player that's going to hurt a bit when you see him playing world class football for some other club.

Also, it could be a tactic by us to state that we are not willing to go to extremes on a bid and are backing away from the table. But, I'm not optimistic enough to believe that we were ever even in discussions with them.

More likely we've been informed he's joining United and have 'backed off' to save face.

It seem that Spurs have learned their lesson (or so I hope) and instead of pursuing "impossible" targets a whole transfer window - in the delusion that the concering club will accept Levy's "valution" in the end - only to be turned down time and again (and being used by agents in the bargain to drive the price further up) only to see the "concering" player being sold for a price far above what Spurs can afford, now move in faster for their set targets - both into and out of deals - so they can focus on "possible" targets instead, rather than wasing time and energy on the "impossible". Well, I hope this is the case

PS! I am sorry if any of you who bothered to read that whole sentence were gasping for breath in the end :p

Just saw the video. Not that impressed . I think that I am keener to see Alex Pritchard rather than signing Mephis. The difference is the level of football intelligence displayed by Pritchard....I think he makes people look better through his play. Mephis doesn't look like he has fantastic pace or tricks.

You're gonna fit in well 'round here

Here's something he did last night...

The wall was crap and allowed it to happen, mind.

Brands added Depay, who has scored 20 league goals this season, would cost more than the £14.5m Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur reportedly bid for the striker.

"It will be much higher than the offer from Tottenham Hotspur," Brands added. "He will be very expensive."

I think we'd be wise to let someone else spend Lamela money (or more) on a player with such little experience. Once bitten....

How is that in any way the walls fault?

The clue is in the name. The "wall" rather than the fence.

They are positioned left of centre, allowing a free shot at the right side of the goal. Even worse, they have let PSV take up the two positions nearest there.

Depay's positioning means that he can't physically take a straight shot to the left of the goal, only allowing a curled-from-right shot to reach there. It makes no sense to position the wall practically out of the way.

Actually, scratch that, even worse than that, the kick goes straight towards one of their players. Instead of jumping to block the kick, he tries some sort of kung-fu kick that would have undoubtedly gone worst even if he did get a touch.

The view from behind the goal shows that the first guy (from the left) of the wall had absolutely no function whatsoever in that wall, especially taking into account Depay's angle.

It's not a free shot - the keepers on that side. The wall is set up to protect the left side of the goal and the keeper is beaten on his side. He doesn't even attempt to beat the wall.

You wouldn't see a free kick defended like that in the PL. Not at all.

It goes right over the head of one of the players ffs - he sticks his leg out instead of jumping. If that was one of our players there'd be a meltdown.

And he's not in the wall? That was the point I was making - it's hardly the walls' fault.

The positioning of the wall was at fault, but that player was also a waste of space.

Regardless of where the goalkeeper is, the wall should be attempting to block the most likely path to the goal. They don't block the left for the sake of it.

I very much doubt you'd find a PL team set up like that at all. It's just a case of smashing it to the keeper's left, and nothing like the technicality required in Eriksen's FKs.
