I remember hazard from his second stint at the lane. I was only young but remember thinking he was a cracking player to watch. From memory he didn't play much upon his return. Wish I'd seen him play in the 80's.

Same for me - too young to have seen him play first time round but I remember his second stint relatively well

I remember him playing a part in Anderton's goal away to Arsenal

Good old sicknote!

I can't recall why he returned, did we have an injury crisis? I seem to remember he was s top gap? Did well mind.

There is a great fighting cock podcast with him on. Go and find it. It's really emotional and his love for spurs is second to none

Second time round, didn't he used to rotate with Samways? Remember it was one or the other.

Cracking player, very unfortunate that he was competing against Hod when they were both in their prime.
Would be made for one of the 3 'No10' roles nowadays.

“I was actually supposed to take Danny Thomas’ penalty but I had been suffering from cramp so Danny took his one ahead of me.”

After Thomas missed his penalty, Hazard believes that it was the home fans that got the team the victory. He insists that – to this day – he has never heard an atmosphere like it and believes the supporters spurred them on to victory on that famous evening at White Hart Lane.

“It was just amazing, nothing will ever get close to that night and I genuinely believe the fans won us the cup that night. We had the cup won when little Danny Thomas stepped up to take the penalty – all he had to do was score and the cup was ours – but he missed. In the terraces it could have gone either way, but they sang his name like he was the hero and I truly believe that inspired Tony Parks to make the match winning save.”

That was probably one of my biggest memories supporting Spurs. The atmosphere that night was incredible and especially when Danny Thomas missed that penalty.

Think this is the first time I've realised I'm starting to get old. Younger fans may not remember him but Micky Hazard was a quality player and is also a top top fan.

I appreciate he loves the club, and I've heard him on the spurs show podcast a few times, but he actually talks a lot of bollocks, and has a massively over inflated opinion of himself as a player. He wasn't remotely close to Hoddle or one of the best midfielders in England. Personally I think the lad we sold to Norwich (Ian Crook) was a better player.

I think your memory is playing tricks in your old age. Hazard was a good player, not in Hoddle or Ozzies class but he was different class to Ian Crook!

Seriously BC you should stick to just slagging off Dawson...

I've just been reading Ossie's autobiography (which is awful, by the way), and remembered he had a few words about Hazard. He signed him both at Swindon and Spurs.

"I think the only player who had more pure talent than him was Glenn Hoddle. Micky really was exeptional...he was one of my favourite players. I could see his enormous potential, yet he had some psychological limitation, something that prevented him from flying to the top...he didn't have the competitive character needed to reach the absolute peak of football, even though his natural talent was clearly good enough."

he was a great understudy and very talented, no doubt about that. It was fantastic to have both at the Lane at the same time.
