I'm sureure I read ITK alluding to a creative midfielder that is UK based, probably David Brooks? I think that would only happen if Alli leaves.
Skriniar would be a great signing and would complete a great transformation of our defence. I am surprised Chelsea would even consider loaning Rudiger to us at all.

I'm sure they won't this happens every window, we get linked to a Chelsea player possibly on loan and then fuck all happens. Probably Chelsea pretending to dangle a carrot to leave their rivals empty handed late on.

I think it is clear that Jose is buying characters who will run through brick walls to win. Players who will play through the pain barrier. Players who will follow instructions to the letter. Players who will demand everything from their team mates. Hart vs Gazzaniga - Neither would have played much this year as they are backup keepers, but Hart is a demanding winner and Gazza is a nice guy. Højbjerg vs Sissoko - Exactly the same, one a leader the other a nice guy. Sissoko is also more of a reactive player and Højbjerg more proactive. I can see Skriniar vs Vertonghen being exactly the same comparison. I can also see why Jose likes Dier at CB so much for the same reasons. Whilst acknowledging that we had a good team with very talented players (I recall Jose said we were the 3rd best squad in the PL before he took over), he has very quickly rebuilt the squad (Hart, Doherty, Reguilon, Højbjerg, Bergwijn, Bale, possibly Vinicius, possibly Skriniar). Exciting times.

Yeah it could’ve been the sporting director. Whoever it was said something along the lines of not leaving this window. It was ‘breaking news’ ? on the transfer show they do. I wasn’t really paying attention but my ears perked up when they mentioned it.
Either way we're definitely at a stand off at the moment, I just don't think it's over and done with.

Little bit of hope for people to cling to who still think this deal will be done.

Would put a caveat though that Eccleshare isn't great when it comes to transfer news and I find he is very often opinion based.

Herc's ITK is still positive IMO. It's close enough and I'm sure as the deadline gets nearer, both clubs will want something definitive. Levy is gambling they blink first but as mentioned several times, maybe we might get it over the line if/once Europa is confirmed

Being optimistic, I think our reported interest this morning in Rudiger is in response to the interview Piero Ausilio put out yesterday basically saying Skriniar is part of the project and would not be leaving. It's all brinkmanship.

Very evidently, Skriniar is not favoured by Conte whatsoever and, whilst transfers are complicated beasts, the fact they met us face to face suggests they are willing to do a deal. By flying in the face of that and saying the player is not for sale and is part of the project, Ausilio is just trying to protect Skriniar's value. It's a bad negotiating tactic to ask for an extortionate fee for something unwanted. By many accounts, Inter need the money. Regardless of what they say in public.

Tottenham in turn have responded by very publicly approaching Chelsea for a player who 1) probably has no intention of joining us and 2) would be incredibly unpopular with a large section of the fans. The transfer just wouldn't make sense and thats why I think that Spurs are essentially demonstrating to Inter that Skriniar is not their only choice here whereas Spurs seem to be the only club willing to take Skriniar off their hands.

We just have to see who blinks first. We've heard countless times that we are £10m short but also that no bid has been formally made. I imagine it will be a very different scenario for Inter Milan when an offer of circa. £40m arrives their end.

I'm still pretty confident tbh.

Inter are happy to sell him and need the money but they aren't desperate, Spurs have the money and want to buy him but they also aren't desperate. We know they have no other suiters and they know we have an interest in no other CB. This is a deal that suits both clubs so neither is going to pull the chain on it. Basically it's going to happen but each side is angling for the best deal confident that it won't fall through.
That's how I see it.

I'm still confident. Everything points to personal terms agreed, so once the clubs have agreed it should be pretty quick. We might offer a little more after progression tonight/outgoings. I won't be worried until Monday evening. Even without Skriniar this is has been one of the best windows of recent years.

Like it or not, we were never spending 40M on Skriniar until we know for sure we’re in Europe. Win tonight and then we can see if this has any legs.

We're slowly moving towards a position of certainty with a 3m outlay on Vinicius and Foyth to Villareal gaining momentum so fingers crossed we can top off this window by not signing Rudiger ?

Tbh i'm not really bothered if this happens or not. I see it as a bonus signing more than anything. With Aurier looking like he's staying that frees up Tanganga as 4th choice CB cover. And i'm comfortable with Davinson, Toby and Dier fighting out for the two starting spots.

I think we need someone to partner Sanchez to propel us to a challenge. Right now, i think top 4 and a trophy is still the goal but we are a quality CB away from making that the absolute minimum. Would love Skriniar but we’ll see if this poker match ends well for us.

Seems like a majority of us would love to see him partnered with big Davinson is he comes. He reality we all know it's going to be Eric though

We're only an injury and a suspension away from disaster - do not think Tanganga is ready for a run of games at CB in a 4-4-2. I see him playing at FB as much as a CB as he develops over the next 2 years

Not sure I’ve seen that specifically. Though it would probably be quite a natural pairing, but I think it’s more likely to be Dier at least initially,

It all seems pretty text book so far. They say he isn't for sale and we leak links of wanting Rudiger. I'm still optimistic this will happen.
