Absolutely. And the financials.Clearly there’s something in this given how much press it is getting, but so much doesn’t add up with the link from all three parties sides (Chelsea, ours and the players). Forgetting the whole unpleasantness and any views on that: we’d be helping a hated rival with their bloated squad issues all for a 6 or 7/10 centre back who it’s debatable if he’s any improvement on our current options, never mind significantly; they’d be helping a hated rival with their squad, a side with whom they’re going to be competing for position, and it doesn’t even seem they’d be getting a decent fee out of it; he’d be going to a club out of the champions league, who won trophies far less regularly, where he wouldn’t even be paid any more and would have no guarantees of playing with an even better centre back seat than those with which he is currently competing.
It would be one of the stranger transfers I’ve seen if it happens.
Not that I’d particularly want this player, but I’d understand more someone like Loftus Cheek. Young, HG, broke through under Mourinho, not getting a look in really, argyy it ably an improvement on Sissoko and Winks who both get regular minutes, definitely on Gedson who gets some, he’d get more playing time ahead of next summers Euros, they’d see one of their academy products develop, we’d arguably upgrade our midfield options.Absolutely. And the financials.
He won't be cheap.
