Unless Rudiger is going to be available for 20m or something I struggle to see why this would be looked at.

Dan KP and ally gold plus our itk's still say we are in for skriniar. Until they start backing out I won't get anxious

Clearly there’s something in this given how much press it is getting, but so much doesn’t add up with the link from all three parties sides (Chelsea, ours and the players). Forgetting the whole unpleasantness and any views on that: we’d be helping a hated rival with their bloated squad issues all for a 6 or 7/10 centre back who it’s debatable if he’s any improvement on our current options, never mind significantly; they’d be helping a hated rival with their squad, a side with whom they’re going to be competing for position, and it doesn’t even seem they’d be getting a decent fee out of it; he’d be going to a club out of the champions league, who won trophies far less regularly, where he wouldn’t even be paid any more and would have no guarantees of playing with an even better centre back seat than those with which he is currently competing.

It would be one of the stranger transfers I’ve seen if it happens.

Absolutely. And the financials.

He won't be cheap.

There's still two and a half days left of the window, so I'm gonna be like Worf and cling on to this deal happening.

It's a shame i thought this was going to happen. At the end of the day we had a great window and this would've just been the icing on the cake so I'm not freaking out.

Here’s some balance from @rebrab
“Not done but this one is more likely than not and will re-iterate that if it’s not him it’s nobody.”
Skriniar, that is

Not that I’d particularly want this player, but I’d understand more someone like Loftus Cheek. Young, HG, broke through under Mourinho, not getting a look in really, argyy it ably an improvement on Sissoko and Winks who both get regular minutes, definitely on Gedson who gets some, he’d get more playing time ahead of next summers Euros, they’d see one of their academy products develop, we’d arguably upgrade our midfield options.

Like I said, I’m not saying I’d want him, but loaning Loftus Cheek for a season would make some sense to all parties, even with the bad blood between clubs. Loaning Rudiger, can’t see it.

Anyway, let’s hope our resident itk and our press mouth pieces are correct and Ornstein is wrong, and we land a shiny new Slovak on Monday.

Gold and Dan KP said we we’re focusing on him now that Carlos Vinicius signed and ITK has been positive as far as I can tell, so I’m not going to get worried over Ornstein. He isn’t a great source for us anyways.

And more from Ally Gold

Inter Milan's Milan Skriniar is the club's top choice, but the problem lies in a £13million difference in valuation.

The Serie A side want £45million for the 25-year-old Slovakian but Spurs want a deal closer to £32million with add-ons for the defender, who is very keen on the move.

There has been plenty of posturing from the Italian outfit with their sporting director and head coach Antonio Conte both saying that Skriniar is not for sale, but the latter crucially conceded that the club do need money to fund their own signings.

It's with that in mind that Spurs are expected to return with a new approach late in the window in the hope that Inter compromise in order to push on their own transfer dealings.

If Skriniar proves to be a no-go, football.londonunderstands Tottenham also have a long-held admiration for 22-year-old Juventus defender Merih Demiral.

Relax, people. No way is this deal off yet. It’s merely that we’re approaching the endgame. Both clubs applying the squeeze. It may or may not get done. But, as per the most reliable journalists and itk, the negotiations will definitely still be ongoing.
