I feel like our best chance of this happening is if Inter concede quite a few tomorrow away at Lazio, Conte throws a wobbly and demands they get in his CB target. Its clear we're happy with what we have, adding a top class CB would be great, but if not, its not the end of the world. Very good window regardless.

Dier, Sanchez, Alderwirled, Tanganga suggests this is not a disaster if it doesn’t happen.

But it’s an opportunity to sign a top 10 player in their position for a modest fee relative to recent years.

If we signed Skriniar, imagine how the press would be wanking themselves silly if United has our window.

A Prem experience right back to compete with AWB.
A top rated young left back.
A top tier Centre back to partner Maguire
A Prem experience CDM to add to the midfield and replace an aging Matic
A difference maker in Bale
A backup striker same level as Ighalo

They'd be Liverpool's biggest threat 100%

Feels a lot like dybala where an opportunity to sign a top top player for a discounted rate that likely won’t happen again. Should take advantage while it’s there as we all know it won’t be in January or next year.

Exactly. I think we’re fine at the position given the four we have. For comparison Liverpool were fine with their 4 of VVD, Gomez, Matip, and Lovren.

Not only that but they’re seemingly going into this season minus Lovren and potentially using an 18 year old/Fabinho to replace him.

It’s more the opportunity to sign a top CB that is exciting rather than it being a dire need in the squad.

Only flaw in your logic is that Inter want a replacement. Therefore, they cant wait until very last minute, unless Italy has an extended domestic window and their target is Italian.

Inter don't need the money to be actually in the bank before buying a replacement. They only need a reasonable expectation that they will get at least what Spurs have already offered for the player.

If we go in with a roster like that I can imagine Tanganga receiving almost 0 minutes.

It sounds like being overly cautious and I can’t even see how you can register a squad that large. If you’re preparing for 2 injuries at each position I can’t see how you can have a squad large enough to cover it all.

Have we actually ever had 2 CBs injured at once? To my memory it’s not a very
Tanganga is still incredibly young and can play for the u23s with the odd first-team game if we get Skriniar. To be a top side you need great depth all over especially if you're going to compete on all fronts. After last seasons injuries caused due to the number of games it's better to have too much than too little. You almost have to assume you'll have several injuries at a time. Even if we haven't had 2 centre backs injured at one time for a while it shouldn't be taken for granted.

I can't imagine we've been chasing Skriniar if we're worried about the number of players we have.

Am I right in thinking that Conte wants shot of him but the Inter hierarchy aren't so sure?

One of the questions during lockdown waswhether Conte would still be around as rumours were that he would be sacked. But yes I think the story was that the board didn’t want Skriniar Sold whilst Conte had said he wasn’t going to play in his three man defence.

We have had an amazing window and I'm excited with this team we are creating. But, I won't lie, I'll be gutted if we can't get Skriniar. I'm a long admirer of his and he'd improve our defence massively.

Obviously, we want to look after finances, but if there is a chance to get him and the rumours are true that he wants to come, then I would love it if we just bit the bullet and went all out for him.

I have no idea what this means considering he wouldn't be in Slovakia but I'm excited by it because I want to believe.
He's picking up relatives maybe. It's probably only an hour in one of them private jets and the flight time from both Slovakia and Milan to London is probably about the same, say a couple of hours or so? So an hours detour to pick up his family?

There's been some top plane spotting this window, it just goes to show that sometimes, not having a life can be beneficial to your fellow man.

How good is Skriniar? reviews on him seem pretty mixed from what I have been reading..

It depends really. Page 1-30 of this thread had him as too slow and overpriced. The last 30 or so pages as we move closer to deadline day have him as a beast of a CH, rated in the top 10 in the World, worth at least double what Inter want for him. Take your pick really.
