Milan Skriniar

A player Spurs made enquiries over in the summer was Milan Skriniar. Technical performance director Steve Hitchen even flew to Milan to meet with Inter representatives, but a deal could not be struck. Inter’s asking price was too high at the time, and now they are reluctant to sell Skriniar given he is a regular starter. They are keen to trim the wage bill, but it’s players such as Eriksen, Radja Nainggolan and Ivan Perisic that they are trying to shift.

Spurs have not given up on Skriniar but a deal in January will be difficult, and the summer is thought to be more realistic.

If we could only sign one player this Jan window it would be Skriniar. We need more Mourinho type players to get the system working seamlessly.

Can’t see this one happening. He’s playing regularly now, and we couldn’t pay what they wanted when he was surplus to requirements.

I thought this was the case after watching their last 2 Champions League matches - he played in both. If he is playing regularly in Serie A, then rehashing this story is really, really lazy journalism.

Out of interest, did Conte sign Rudiger? If so, perhaps they’d be open to letting Skriniar go if they could sign Rudiger for a cut price fee (contract running down). He may be a better fit for Conte’s back 3.

I like skriniar but shouldn't we be opting for someone with more pace to allow us to play a slightly higher line

Skriniar is the defender Mourinho identified but personally Upamecano makes much more sense plus he has a buy out clause we can certainly manage....both tho would be an unbelievable statement of intent.

Upamecano would be utterly awesome.

Whilst no doubting Skriniar's ability, and the fact that he'd be a ready to go signing, I have to admit I'm quite excited to see how Rodon progresses.

Of course, not expecting him to be at the calibre of Skriniar from the get go. But he certainly seems assured on the ball when I've seen him play. He also looks like he thoroughly enjoys the old fashioned physicality of defending.

Think he could turn out to be a cracking signing.

Anyways, Wouldn't have been adverse to Skriniar, but heyho.

He certainly has the physical characteristics to be a top PL centerback.

I’m sure this guy is a very good player but if I look at the starting centre backs at our rivals, I’m really not upset at what we have.
