Mills was an England youth age-group captain when we signed him in a lot of publicity from Swindon. He seems to have slipped behind Dervitte and Troy A-H in the CB pecking order, so this loan move is good for him and us.

He'll either rediscover the form he showed when he was 16 and tipped for big things, or find his level and still make a decent professional living from the game.

It does show there are no guarantees about how 16-year-olds will develop. Archibald-Henville is a local lad who came through our Academy, has never played for his country at youth team level, and yet appears to be pushing for a first-team squad place next season.

Good news, will be good for him to get a full preseason with there squad aswell, should help with him fitting in.

The consensus seems to be that this season loan is a shop window opportunity for the lad.

It may be more an opportunity for him to get some serious games under his belt, like Jamie OHara, and to sharpen up his act for a tilt at the first team some time soon.

I remeber all the paper talk when we signed him, swindon were not too happy, It's quite hard for a 20 year-old to break into defence especially the centre! Hope it goes well for him!

Seems a good move for him allowing him to get some games and hopefully he'll come back to us and make the breakthrough!

Too good for them

Have you seen him play?

I haven't, but I understand the sentiment that for a capped player to be moving from the prem to league 2 seems too big a drop.

I just hope he plays well and improves his game. If he's good enough for us he comes back, if he's not he gets sold on for a profit hopefully.

Would've hoped he went to a League 1 team but I guess all first team experience at a decent level is good at that age.

Best of luck to him, really hope he can come through after all the hype around him four years ago.

if he was too good for that level the powers that be would have made sure he played at championship or even league 1 level.

good luck to him though

The consensus from where exactly?

Experience will do him good.

Came with high expectations but hasn't made breakthrough we would have wanted a la Micah richards etc.

Has the one season to prove his worth - but not sure Brentford necessarily the right level for him.

He's currently in the ressies, yet Division 2 is not good enough for him? Admittedly it's been a while since I've watched any reserve team football, but...

Ah, how silly of me, I forgot. All 72 leagues sides outside of the EPL should be permanently at our beck and call.

And, stepping off the sarcasm-mobile (cheers, Stoof, I've left the keys in the usual place), might I suggest that the reason we 'chose' Brentford is the location that allows him to train with us as and when necessary. I understand we like loanees to stay in close contact wit the club.
