We are delighted to announce that agreement has been reached with Perugia for the signing of Italian youth international Mirko Ranieri.

The 16-year-old goalkeeper has represented Italy at Under-16 level and will now join up with our Academy group of players, coached by Alex Inglethorpe.

"Mirko is 6ft 2" and an excellent shot stopper," said Sporting Director Damien Comolli. "His distribution and decision making is improving all the time.

"He is a highly-intelligent individual and another very good young goalkeeper we have attracted to the Club."

The photo on the official site looks a lot like it was taken at Spurs lodge, and Mirko has a passing resemblence to David Bentley.

Very true, no wonder we had those "Bentley at the lane ITK's" cos this kid does look a bit like him.

seems like comoli is concentrating more on signing academdy/youth players, than recruiting for the 1st team at the mo which seems to be being dealt with by ramos and Levy

Maybe they dont trust him after sigining bent, kaboul, boateng for £30Million

Since he's been handling the spadework for negotiations for all our major signings as well, perhaps he's due a little credit instead of constant crap.

I must admit that the Comolli bashing winds me up aswell. Everyone goes on about how great Wenger is at signing players blah blah blah, but in Adebayors first season for arsenal he scored 11 goals in 47 appearances....pretty god damn average to me.

KPB is 21 years old, has played about 9 games for us and people are slating him (Surely he deserves more time). Let me remind you that a certain Ronaldo was seriously cr*p when he first joined Utd/As was Tevez when he joined West Ham. Kaboul was chucked in at the deep end and unfortunately he suffered a bit but I think that if we got rid we would eventually regret it.

Fair enough these signings havent worked that great last season but Comolli has also brought in some very very good talent: Berbs/Bale/Hutton/Woodgate/Gunter/Gilberto/Gomes/Dos Santos/Modric. Add that to the youngsters that he has signed: Bostock/Parrett/Mpoku/Rose/Ranieri/Jansson/Olsen...

I for one am happy that we have Comolli at the club, and it does make me laugh when people slate Comolli for a bad signing and then say he has nothing to do with it when its a good signing. For example many people blamed Comolli for Gilberto making the mistake against PSV but then praise Ramos for bringing in Hutton & Woodgate......that makes no sense to me. If you blame Comolli for Gilberto then he deserves high praise for Hutton & Woody!

If Comolli & Ramos work together like they have done so far in bringing mega talented players to Tottenham then I think its about time we got off his back & started supporting the bloke. After all we are all THFC!

Rant Over

Meerly stating the facts.

Comolli does not go off on his own and make the signings in a vacuum, unbeknownst to Levy, Jol/Ramos, etc. The concept of a "Comolli-signing" is a pure chimera. I think that is a pretty well established fact.

It's a fact that Comolli is no longer trusted?

Oh, a Gooner journo and an ITK said so. It must be true, then.

the fact is we spent £30million on those three players, like you say comoli plays a major role in negociating those fees. im sorry but that is crazy money to spend on a striker who is more than likely going to start on the bench and two players under 21 that have no premiership experience. Fine these players might come good but who is to say they wont be sold this summer for half the price.

What I do think is that ramos is alot more influential with transfers than jol was, and that the board have given Ramos a more hands on role in negociations. I think the roles have been juggled around a bit and comoli is now concentrating more on youth development. Also, wasnt it Levy that played the major negociating role in the Modric transfer?

Then you think wrong. The only difference is that Ramos has more pull than Jol, and, more contentiously, that he made Levy see the error of his ways in refusing to pay big money for players who will have no sell-on value at the end of their contracts—e.g. Woody. Otherwise, the system is precisely the same. Ramos has a total veto on players, so did Jol.

Kaboul, for one, was just as much Jol's signing as Comolli's.

This move surprised me a bit since we have two other excellent prospects in our academy in David Button and Oscar Jansson. Guess it's a good sign though, that we keep on recruiting every year. And don't have the attitude that there are no need to keep on signing the most talented since we have players already in acedemy that are likely to make it.

The headline for his article on main site shocked me;
"Ranieri to join Academy" hehe
thought we'd got Claudio to work on our youth players.
