Modric & Giovani dos Santos - How long before they want Champions League Football? I can't get excited by the prospect of excellent players coming to Spurs anymore - Gimme Ruel Fox, Justin Edinburgh and John Scales any day =).

Its why we need to complete the squad - get that top class midfielder and keeper to give us a really good eleven. We've had some great players at the club recently but they have been joined by some absolute rubbish. We now have several players who are good enough to play in the champions league, we need to get rid of the ones that arent good enough for lower half teams.

Get that keeper and midfielder in, then we have an 11 that should be good enough to challenge.

Surely a record to be scared of players leaving before they've even kicked a ball in anger for us?

:)

Yep. I'd like to see how we're ever going to break in to the top-10 again if Ramos takes any tips from this guy.

Give it a season and both will be written off just like Aaron Lennon. (Ridiculous)

A season!.........i expect that if Modric hasnt scored 6 times in the first 5 games his head will be on a pole, and Santos will be heading up the M1 if he aint MOTM for the first half a dozen games.........when do we start burning our season tickets?

we my friends are building a squad, and since we were going with a lot of young players, our success will not be instant, be patient, enjoy our growth.

I stand by what Ramos is trying to do, at present, BUT....more 'waiting' for a sunny day in the not too distant future? We have heard that one before....several times and we were assured that 07/08 was a 'shoe in' for CL or a VERY close race with the Top 4 teams! Poppycock...again! Through one mistake after another MJ was undermined and WE, the fans, were forced to PASS GO but we did not get our reward!
WHEN are we going to realize our potential at WHL? I am prepared to wait....and wait....BUT I am a Yid and I am used to having to wait....and a Cup here and there....and then mid table obscurity and.....the circle continues....ad infinitum! COYS!

i think these 2 will be very good players over the course of the season. maybe gio wont start as many games in the first half of the season as we expect, coz i think lennon will be playing a lot too, but thse are the sort of players that WILL turn us into CL (maybe even title) contenders. modric looked to me (bare in mind i was workin at the tme do had one eye on serving up the stella) like a natural replac ement for carrick in the way he controls the tempo of the game and picks the passes out from all distances. fair enough he doesnt have the vision, accuracy and range as the hudd, but hes not too far from it. and his agility and technical skill could turn him into a superstar. speaking to some croation fans i saw at stansted airport, he is the superstar, and not eduardo, as ppl might expect. and i jus have a sneaky feeling tho, that Dos Santos could set the premiership alight this season, and ridiculously overshadow ronaldinho if he moves to city.

£4 point whatever million for the new ronaldinho...
£18m for the old ronaldinho...

and think we have made pontentially the biggest coup in world football, not city

well let's hope they get champs league football with us

I think we need a new DM a new CB and probably 2 GKs - certainly one before we're even realistically close -

I also deep down still think we need another LB/left sided player who can cover there but I'm been 'won over' on that one - but I'm still nervous about us left-sided defensively

Gary Lineker was saying on MOTD that with a couple more like Modric maybe a title push was on its way - Hansen said you'd need about another 15 like him - and he's not far wrong :)

I can see what you're getting at. We've needed a international class/world class midfielder for sometime now. It important that the board gets all the players that Ramos wants and that we mount a real challenge. If we dont then I expect Modric, dos santos and other players to leave and we will be known as nothing more than a stepping stone club.
