Modric and Bale both got their 'dream' moves. If they hadn't of moved we could easily have won the premier league. Instead Real boost their brand by winning 2 CL trophies, due to our 'special' relationship with Los Blancos and again we suffer in the same way as when we let Berbs, Teddy and he who shall not be named.

TBH I don't give a shit about Bale or Modric. I would rather have players like Winks that bleeds Spurs in our midfield when we open our brand new stadium because it will mean as much to him as a life long Spur as it does to me.

We need loyal players that want to bleed for the shirt. Modric and Bale used us as a stepping stone.

My first thought when I saw this thread was we'd be PL champions for years if we still had Modric, Bale and vdV. And proper CL contenders too. I know this logic could apply to anyone but it wasn't long ago and entirely possible that we could've kept them, vdV's age aside.

He was 29 when he left, which is a player's peak (28-29ish). He should have continued to be effective for at least another three seasons.
