Stay, get his head down, and play. If we fail to secure a CL spot at the end of the season then sell for big £ and give the new manager serious wedge to spend on his own team......

Stay and play and fine him the maximum allowed under his contract every time he refuses to or goes through the motions deliberately

I voted stay. I don't agree that he's likely to be benched though, that's only your opinion.

Haven't see any polls set up. Thought would be interesting to see percentages of people want to see Modders go following his desire to move to Chelski.

Sadly you ruined your poll before it even got going.

Here's a tip. Make the choices straight forward e.g. yes, no, don't care. Then we can add in the reasoning ourselves.

When you put your subjective opinion into a choice as you have done with the "Keep him and let him likely rot on the bench or in the reserves", you make it impossible for some people to make a selection.

For instance I want to keep him, but not to rot on the bench etc. but to play in the side which is what I think is the likely outcome, even though inherent in that option is the risk that he will have to be left on the bench.

By skewing the poll towards your own opinion you also skew the responses.

I had to laugh, there are 5 fans amongst us who 'don't care' whether we sell Modric or not - regardless of yes or no, you 5 must have an opinion on the subject surely?!

Honestly, you do have to wonder about some people...

And they're the options you should have given. You didn't.

What's your opinion btw?

I fully agree with this post.

Also, this thread is in danger of becoming just another Modric discussion and might as well go in one of the main threads. A poll would probably work better if it was fair and if it was for voting only.

Stay, he signed a nice long contract, agree that if we don't get in the top four nx season and a top team (outside of the premiership) offers a suitable amount then we will look at the transfer. For us to sell to another PL team the fee must be a British record.

Note suitable amount to THFC, so F OFF Chelski, trying to buy our best players on the cheap by unsettling them!

Sooner he goes the better as long its for a deent fee. He couldnt sore in a brothel and his incisive defence splitting passes are non existant. He fannys about and looks good but if you really think about it conributes bugger all

The media have whipped this one up a bit. Clearly Modric has had his head turned by Chelsea's money and the fact that they are CL and PL contenders. However he seems to have a reasonably level head and, despite media reports, he has not yet handed in a transfer request. Therefore I believe Levy and Redknapp together will be able to persuade to play at least one more season for us.

Perhaps the options should be:

1. Force him to stay despite "gentleman's agreement" and serious bid (IMO £45ml+)
2. Force him to stay despite transfer request and possible disruption to squad (something I believe Modric will not do as he seems reasonably sensible and well advised)
3. Allow him to leave if a serious (£45mln+) bid comes in from a PL club
4. Allow him to leave if a serious (£45mln+) bid comes in from a non-PL club
5. It doesn't matter whether he stays or not
6. Sell him because we have better options and don't need him.

I think Levy will force him to stay and succeed in getting another good season out of him. Perhaps if Levy moves quickly to show we are serious about challenging for the title by buying a couple of top notch strikers, it will be easier to persuade Modric to stay.

As for my view that £45mln + is a serious bid, I guess we will all have differing opinions on this one. My figure is not entirely random but based on what I believe it would cost us to bring in to 2 top notch attacking midfielders (one proven and one unproven).

this is all ridiculous, its a croatian who said he wants to play for chelsea. tell him to shut the fuck up and get on with his job here. Whats the big deal. Any one would think some one tried to start a nuclear war! all this pandering to these little bitches causes the problems, there is nothing to answer he stays he plays

But isn't this biting off our nose to spite our face?

Yes I agree players have a contract and they should honer it, problem is they don't these days, and that is just the way it is. yes we can say fuck you, you stay and you rot on the bench, but all that does is mean we are down one player? So wouldn't it be better and get big money for him so we could strengthen the team with a great striker?

Now, if I could I would rather sell him abroad and not Chelski, I would even take less money and send him abroad.

well no because thats not what i'm asking

I am clearly asking given the situation - shall he stay which means he is likely to be benched or not get in the squad given that he has said he wants to leave us therefore meaning heart not in the club.
or shall we just let him move on and get a transfer fee for him.

But I don't believe he is likely to be benched, so I can't answer YES to that, can I.
Almost everyone has made exactlythe same critique of your poll, and some have gone to some length to explain where you went wrong in designing it...wouldn't it have been easier for you to ahve just accepted you should have either worded it or designed it differently, in the first place:shrug:

Are they though ?

We got as far in the CL as they did last season and with a few games to go we were right up with them in the PL with our misfiring strikers, you are overating Chelsea IMHO
