He's our creative spark.

It always seems to take him a while to get going in games but he is so lively, can get out of the tightest jams and has the ability to play the most beautiful weighted passes.

Him and Lennon are the future of our attack imo.

Modric is obviously our best midfielder but i wouldn't put Lennons name together with him. Sure alot of pace and running.....but nothing happens...absolutely nothing.

Modric will go in a season or two and if we continue to be mid table/lower table Lennon will be gone too. Probably to Villa or Man City.

He's a player who really comes alive when a game opens up. He did it so well in the Euros too. Early on when games are tight, he will just keep the ball ticking in midfield, then as the gaps start to open up, he influences the game more. He and Lennon are very highly relied on to create chances. I'd love to see a technically gifted number 9 to drop off or hold the ball up. I know we wont get another Berbatov but someone as close to him as possible would link up beautifully with Luka. Get a left winger and we could be lethal again in attack getting Lennon and the left winger behind the defence, and Defoe as out and out striker.

The thing about Lennon is his delivery is inconsistent...its not as poor as is always made out but it is inconsistent.

Lennon is such a threat though and he has such pace that he creates himself a lot of chances that other players would'nt..how many crosses at the by line does Bale, OHara or Bentley get compared to Lennon? With so many chances you bound to get a few crosses roght and almost every game he provides at least one golden opportunity as he did today....thats worth a lot.

The other thing about Lennon is people love to harp on about the Zokora's, Dawsons and Oharas giving 100%....Lennon gets a raw deal in this respect as he is een as a "flair" player. He gives everything imo and is incredibly determined.

I do agree though that Modric is a step up in class...but Lennon is a very important, and underappreciated, player for us.

It must happen sometime with 10-15 opportunities in every game

While I was replying you made my point for me:wink:

For me a player who creates 15 chances a game and creates even one clear cut goal scoring chance is an absolute asset. Most wingers in the league could only dream of that.

absolutely true, lennon is one of the very hardest working players on our team when he starts, his constant running today and ease on the ball gives others time to get involved - in the same way people defend modric with misplaced passes as people not being on his wavelength, often lennon has nobody moving into the right spaces to make the right ball count - although hes as guilty as anyone of just humping it in sometimes - today he was working hard for us

on the subject of modric i think had pav stayed on his influence would have grown even more, hopefully this will continue - but he is essentially a central midfielder, he's not a scoring guy in the hole, he plays centre mid for croatia, he needs people around him to score goals as i dont believe he ever will get that many nor is it realistic to ask it of him - he makes croatia tick and is the metronome of a very good side but they dont roll people over that often either

Only saw the second half today. Thought as soon as they scored Modric clicked into gear. He battles for everything, and the touch to lay it off for Defoe was unselfish. He could have turned and shot. He is our best player. We need to up the ante in the league and in the next few seasons if we want to keep him.

Doesn't help when refs give the opposition license to foul him every time he gets the ball...
