Koeman should of been saying this to Chambers not MS. You cant let a 19 year old kid who's only played 20 odd games go to Arsenal and then say to MS "no you cant go", when MS has given 6 years to them and deserved a move a lot more.

Southampton are not the type of club that can make a stand and say MS will rot in the reserves. He will lose value and they can't afford to let that happen and will probably be forced to sell

I thought this cannot happen anymore. I remember when Ratface was having his go slow I suggested letting him rot in the reserves and someone pointed out that it was against some Euro law about the right to work or something similar.

I'd imagine, if he's refusing to play or partake in training, they're free to punish him in any way they deem fit? He'd be the one breaching the contract he was previously happy to sign.

Totally agree.

I'm sure that really pissed MS off. Southampton saw the money and went fuck it....now they don't like this.

Very selective if you ask me.

I don't think we will get him now, I just see the interview with koeman

Koeman said: "The situation is difficult, the player makes it difficult.''

"I spoke to him with our chairman and the situation has not changed - we don't sell Schneiderlin and he has to accept that.''
But after Koeman said that, he is asked does he think Schneiderlin will end up staying and to that question he says I don't know.

To piss somewhat on the parade of gloating from some in here, I suspect the probability that he leaves has gone up, but the probability he comes to us, hasn't.

If people think the decision not to sell was to appease the fans, then the decision to sell but not to us will appease them too.

It's like they're all pally with the scum, maybe be something going on there IMO, we know that Wenger wants MS too.

what's the chances of schneiderlin still being "on strike" when the window closes and he's still a southampton player? very low i'd say, he's not going to want to sit around doing nothing for the next five months. southampton are in a stronger position on this than some of you like to make out.

Yeah obviously a lot depends on Kaboul's fitness, but even then we'd have Velkjovic as well.

But even if we decide to let Chiriches go instead of Dawson, and Kaboul is injured, I'd hardly call that a clusterfuck as there won't be many teams with a better 4th choice centre back than Dawson.
that's irrelevant really. I'd imagine there'd also not be that many teams more likely to be in a position where playing their 4th choice CB became necessary either.

Southampton have made over £90m in transfers so far this summer, so they can definitely afford to stand firm with Schneiderlin and allow his value to take a small hit (it's hardly going to plummet by tens of millions now, is it?). besides, once the deadline passes, he''ll have no choice but to just suck it up and start playing again. I really do hope they do stand firm on this one for 2 reasons: 1) I don't actually want him, and don't see what he's going to bring that we don't already have, particularly if it means losing whichever of Kaboul/Sandro/Chiriches it would be that would leave to make space for him. 2) SOMEBODY has to call the bluff of these piss-taking players. if it has to be Soton, then so be it. yes, you want to leave, but IMO the whole "my head isn't in the right place" garbage is just plain disrespectful. I'm pretty sure that, even despite this obviously harrowing ordeal, he'll still somehow bravely manage to pick up however many thousands of pounds it is they're currently paying him to sit at home and sulk.

Not if he's playing with his head turned . The player rarely plays to their full potential in these situations

My guess is that it was down to Koeman, he threatened to walk or something...

I thought that about us on a few occasions too.
I suspect that, if he's there on 1st September, he will knuckle down and play but only if he feels confident that they'll allow him to go next summer, as Luca did, but to be honest I doubt he'll trust them again and why should he.

So either we get him or he ends up giving them one more year, like Modric and Barry etc.

Also it is extremely likely that Soton will not have near as good a season as last year, which will give Schneiderlin less chance to shine even if his mind was focused. This might be his time to move, it might not be here in a year.

You can when you've got someone willing to pay that much for someone with little actual credibility to his name. Schneiderlin will still be worth 20m or so when he's sold, Chambers might only ever be worth 16m once.

Southampton cant use that excuse when they already have amassed £70m before they sold Chambers, not like they needed to cash in on Chambers. I would fully agree with your point in a different scenario.
