I won't lose any sleep if we don't get him.

For me, it's not as ovbvious as the moutinho signing. Moutinho was the best possible like for like replacement we could have got for Luka but we didn't.

MS is a decent player but at the price being branded about, and the fact that we have the likes of Capoue, Bentaleb, Sandro, Demeble already at the club leads me to think that MS would be a useful addition but he's not going to make or break our season.

A lot on this thread would disagree, people seem to think he's one of the best DMFs in the world. In fact he seems to have some kind of unique skill set according to a lot of the mob on here. There ain't a player in the league like him

Whether he "trained" or not is another matter. he wold know it is in his interest to keep reasonably fit
Key question is has he changed his position on leaving?

This is a fair point, I'm also happy if Poch is happy but we don't really know how bad he wants him, even if he does, his opinion on some of our players might change over the next few months, who knows?

I've heard it said that Poch considers him essential for his setup. Whether that's Poch speaking or someone putting words in his mouth I don't know!

I'm wondering how much Pochettino still wants him. He obviously does and still would but perhaps what he's seen from Capoue and Bentaleb has maybe made him think this sort of money may be of better use being invested in a different position, perhaps on an attacking player. I'm utterly convinced that both Bentaleb or Capoue can more than capably do what Schneiderlin did at Soton. Also it does mean that I wouldn't have to go through the feeling I'd have of Sandro leaving.

He obviously does and still would but perhaps what he's seen from Capoue and Bentaleb has maybe made him think this sort of money may be of better use being invested in a different position, perhaps on an attacking player. Nah, shiny is still top priority imo.

They may be interested in bringing these 2 together.

Yeah, but MS is currently a better player than Bentaleb and Nabil isn't ready to become a starter for us yet IMO. In the future though, Bentaleb could and hopefully will be the heart of our team.

I do agree but, Bentaleb imo working with Pochettino has the potential to be an absolute star. It would save us 22m but then again the amount of games in the season there's the likelihood that even if signed MS, Bentaleb would start 30 odd games. I'm all for MS coming in to replace Sandro (tearfully).

Being top of the academy at 19 is not a brilliant predictor for being top of the first team squad at 24.

Of course Schneiderlin is better than Bentaleb, but he's only 19, has some serious potential and needs to be playing regularly.

He's going to be class.
