Why. Because we will not £27m ish on him

Please get a grip.

I can see Utd coming in for him
I totally agree. I don't think it would look bad at all for the Spurs hierarchy not to spend £27 million on him. Decent player but that's just a ridiculous amount.

I suppose it comes down to whether his goals and assists will be the difference between top 4 or not. If we get 4th, 27 mill is cheap. However, it's impossible to tell, and Levy's not a gambler.

In my opinion if Morgan played for a 'top' team and not Southampton nobody would bat an eyelid paying 20+ million for him. He starts to add a few goals and he really could be considered a complete midfielder. He would improve every match day squad in the Prem and every starting line up other than Man city considerably. If he went to Liverpool, Arsenal or UTD then their midfield is improved a lot.

Wished we had forced this one through, a real shame to miss the boat.

Could be. You pays your money etc........

I still would not pay the inflated prices being rumoured.

I still think that if we were going to spend the kind of money that is being mooted for Schneiderlin, the best place we could spend that amount to improve our current squad is in the forward/attacking midfield positions. We're in need of more quality up front than we are in the middle of the park, IMO.

If we had been in for him 2 years ago at 2m everybody would be moaning and asking who he is. Anybody got any thoughts on where Stambouli might be (if we get him) after a season or two being coached by Poch. In the meantime it could mean we have in the region of 20m to play with.

I bet he goes to Arsenal. Oh well.

Our midfield is good, not to worry. Winger would be nice but i'm not going to get all worked up if nothing else happens now. We're in pretty good shape.

I don't think I could cope with him going to Scum and becoming a hero. He ticks so many boxes for us. Plus he wants to come to us and he ticks the uk based player bit. When are Spurs going to realise that for the right player at the top you pay top money:banghead: Levy you have got your bargins in Dier etc. Now get you wad out:censored:

He would transform Arsenal and Utd, would improve them just as much if not more than us. If they pay the £27m then fair play we can't compete but if he goes for £18-22m I will be seriously pissed.

It's all well and good saying Stombouli may become better but they are the same age and one is grounded fully in English football

Let me put it this way

I feel we will have a better chance of beating Victims FC today if Schneiderlin is in the team today instead f Bentaleb

The thing that I struggle with when people say that we'd be overspending is that they then talk about spending that money on the team elsewhere. The thing is that with the money saved from buying FF and not MM and potentially from buying BS and not MS, we should have a great deal of money to spend elsewhere.

So I'm hoping for a stellar signing that improves the first team in another part of the field. Welbeck will be a decent signing, but not particularly stellar when you consider we apparently were already looking at a LWF on top of the others.

If we don't bring another player or two in it'll just add credence to the idea that DL promises big but delivers small.

I know I'll get a few dislikes for this, but I really felt like I had to say it. Sorry guys.

I've just posted similar in the Stambouli thread. Not seen him play, but looking at the YouTube video compared to the one doing the rounds of Schneiderlin, he looks similar. We see other clubs buying players like this, they succeed, then we get quoted 3-4 times the original fee to buy a season later. Seems to me maybe the club have decided Southampton's fee is just too high this time, and we have gone to plan B. So long as Pochettino is fully on board, then fine. Sure I saw some ITK suggesting that was the case. Levy and MP etc had agreed targets and values, Levy had then gone above MP's valuations to try and secure his primary targets, but without success.

After with this too. Kind of links in with my post above. MP possibly wanted Musacchio and Schneiderlin, would have cost us in excess of £35m in theory, but the clubs wouldn't deal, so we moved on to Fazio and Stambouli, for a rumoured £14/15m?. So theoretically there is some of the original funds set aside to go after a higher calibre LWF/striker than intended. All theory really, so actual suggestion that's true, but just my thinking.

Something missing in the horror show today was a creative, defensive player. Like hmmmm, Schneiderlin?

Another thing was a willing runner runner from wide positions like hmmmm Welbeck?

With MS' passing and Welbeck's pacey runs we couldve be on to something. I know that it's a whole new level but remember when Modric would find Bale, we couldve have something working with those 2. Shame really :(

And there lies the sufferance with us and a club like Liverpool , we always go for the cheap alternative , without ever really improving . Liverpool have invested to improve the first eleven , should Have paid for Schneiderlin instead of just making numbers up with signings like BS

There is nothing wrong with this, just don't expect top 4 and then sack the managers for not attaining it.

All the top teams have creative players as well as a stopper in their "2"
City- Toure
Chelsea- Fabregas
Arsenal- Arteta
Liverpool- Gerrard
United- Did have Carrick. Maybe Herrera?
Bayern- Alonso
Madrid- Modric
Juve- Pirlo
Barca- Xavi

I know these players aren't in our reach but there's a common theme. I know that MS isn't as creative as these but he will certainly help!

We were completely outclassed in the centre of the park today - I wonder if this will force Levy's hand to make more effort to actually get this deal done before the window slams shut

The type of deal that could make or break the teams ability to have a good season in my opinion

We're still lacking at LWF, centre forward and even in defense but the CM is the heart beat of the team and we really need a quality upgrade there even if we have the numbers already
