So has the consensus in here now that we expect MS to go to the goons?

SURELY there is some relevance to the whole follow/unfollow of SpursOfficial on twitter? If he had done that to the Arsenal account I'd be convinced there was something in it!

Couldn't give a toss if he signs or not.
Not really a priority, not like we dont have enough talent already in this area.

I am also struggling to understand why Real Madrid persists to buy Modric and Bale from a team that struggles to qualify for the Champions League. How would that aid them in their Champions League quest? Dude not to piss out of you but talented players who play for lesser teams doesn't mean they at that level. It means lesser clubs bothered to take a risk and harnessed their potential or they started their career with the lesser clubs.
I don't disagree with one or two players but the whole team? It would be like Real Madrid, Barcelona, man utd and Chelsea trying to sign our whole team. Of course they would never do that but they might sign one or two of our standout players. If we had a whole team of players at that level we would be at that level. Of course lesser teams may have one or class acts but I am saying it is not one or two but loads that all the teams are fighting over. Now I don't disagree Southampton may have 2-3 standout players who are champions league level. So far they have sold 3 to higher clubs and at least 4 are being chased. That's 7 out if their starting 11 - surely if they were all that good Southampton would of been top 6 last season.

I think one of the main things Id say is that some of these players are being bought from Southampton to be squad depth or at least competing on rotation.

All these players were main men at Southampton.

Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin wants to join Tottenham ahead of neighbours Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger is a confirmed admirer of the 24-year-old France international and Arsenal have opened discussions over a proposed move to bring him to The Emirates - but Schneiderlin wants to re-join former boss Mauricio Pochettino instead.

Schneiderlin rates the Argentine highly and credits him with developing his game last season, which culminated in his selection for the World Cup.

Arsenal have interest in Real Madrid's Sami Khedira, Lars Bender of Bayer Leverkusen and William Carvalho of Sporting Lisbon but Schneiderlin was considered the easier option and arguably better value at around £16m.

Schneiderlin joined Southampton from Arsene Wenger's former club Strasbourg for just £1.2million in 2008 and has since made over 200 appearances, earning plaudits for his work-rate, high tackle count and interceptions.

He is contracted until 2017 but is ready to join the Southampton exodus once a fee is agreed.

However, rather than Arsenal it is Tottenham he is favouring as Pochettino looks to add to his first signings of Ben Davies and Michel Vorm from Swansea

I'd say its unclear where's he going to end up but I'm certainly hoping its here.

Without trying to read too much into the whole follow/unfollow twitter stuff lol...I'd guess he's expecting to end up at Spurs, got a tad over zealous with his enthusiasm and followed us and was then told not to do so by the powers that be.

That's my interpretation anyway!!

Couple that with JJ's remarks - that he's a top target for us.....

Interesting how the club backs the manager on this one - I remember that Moutinho was AVB's top target and we failed to deliver. Big statement of intent if we mange to land Schneiderlin!

Normally slag the fail but in this case I'm happy to alter my stance...it really is a very credible source when it wants to be.

Moutinho was more expensive.

Moutinho was more expensive and personally I see defensive midfield as a problem area! Capoue hasn't looked brilliant and Sandro looks like being sold.

I like the fact hes not just a ball winner but he can play aswell. Plus hes played under Poch before soo he will be used to his "philosophy"

After watching yesterday and the last 2 seasons, I think it's clear we miss someone in the middle of the park to link the team together. Never got close to replacing Modric. I'd be delighted with Morgan, I'd argue he is a priority signing.

Noise that lovren to Liverpool is done. Surely they won't sell both him and Schneiderlin.

I don't think they will have too much choice in the matter if he kicks up enough of a fuss. It is too difficult to keep players when they truly want out nowadays

This, and money makes the world go round. If we cough up enough cash they'll let him go. Particularly if it's early enough for them to look at replacements.

Don't envy Koeman's job though.
