Did Charlie Buchan play for the Goons in the 30s?
Yes.
Although I was unaware of that at the time when I used to get the Football Monthly mags and the Football Annuals.

Shoot! Fkin hell. I'm havin flashbacks lolI read the same mags in the 60s, and then there was one called "Shoot".
Used to love Shoot until they completely changed their target demographic in the early 00s. It went from a fairly serious young adults footie mag to all kids' stuff in the blink of an eye.I read the same mags in the 60s, and then there was one called "Shoot".
Shoot was always a kids mag, I think you may have just gotten older...Used to love Shoot until they completely changed their target demographic in the early 00s. It went from a fairly serious young adults footie mag to all kids' stuff in the blink of an eye.
That is obviously partly true but I went through loads of mags a few weeks ago and threw most of it out and the sudden shift in style of the front covers really caught my eye. When they went Monthly, which was when most of my mags were from, they had really clean and serious-looking covers for a few years before going back to the kiddie-look they've normally had. Which is why I associate them with being a bit more serious as that was their style when I was in secondary school when I subscribed to the mag.Shoot was always a kids mag, I think you may have just gotten older...
I read it through the late 80s to early 90s. Must have been after I stopped reading it. Was always weekly when I read it. I miss the league ladders. That is obviously partly true but I went through loads of mags a few weeks ago and threw most of it out and the sudden shift in style of the front covers really caught my eye. The first football magazine I can remember was Charlie Buchan's Monthly. I at the time only associated him with Sunderland. and Arsenal were an no entity anywayYes.
