I don't know if it's just me, but I quite like the buy in Jan and loan back til the summer set-up. Worked so nicely with Alli too. Just gives the young player time to get used to the move mentally. He can come to the training centre a few times and get to know everyone. And more importantly keep developing by playing more regular games.

I agree mate. Unfortunately, though, it doesn't solve our current issue at this moment in time. I wonder if Fulham's stance could perhaps scupper any proposed deal?

I wouldn't have thought so Coopsie, we're building for the future not just this season.
MD#2 would be a great addition to next years squad especially at the £6m reported price.

Reason why Fulham will be very keen on the 'buy and loan back' option is (as has been said before no doubt) is that Fulham are under a transfer embargo, so they cannot buy other players to replace Dembele on their squad.

Spurs could offer to loan youngsters to them (eg Winks is an obvious possibility) as they could pay his wages - but not a loan fee (which of course could be zero by reducing the fee for Dembele) if we wanted Dembele to join now and Fulham were happy to take a player or two on loan from us.

Good move to loan him back IMO.

If we can bring in Sandro from Barcelona too then we have a great few forwards for the future and Dembele can be loaned out to gain experience rather than being rushed to develop.

Loan back has to be a no go, surely? I'd be surprised if we are not thinking of a summer move for another forward such as Batshuyi anyway.

Our need is a present one.

Would be pretty crazy if we did this, but I never thought we'd leave ourselves with just Kane after the summer window so nothing would surprise me anymore with Spurs.

All depends if we have someone else lined up for this window.

I would also be fine with that....providing we also bring in another decent back up for kane right now....even just on loan.

As far as I'm aware that embargo blocks them from loaning players too.

That's a small team mentality
You win big by gambling big.

I'm pretty sure we would have more chances of winning the league if we sign Jackson Martinez than if we only signed Dembele

Besides, it's not like we lose all the money if it fails. The player stays and can adapt later, or Levy will sell him for a small loss.
At least we would've tried, showed some ambition, some intent o winning the league.
We always seem to be in transition.

Lol you also lose big by gambling big, if everyone won on a punt it wouldn't be a gamble would it? You have also missed on guy out in all this... Poch, he seems happy with what he has and upsetting the dynamic he has in the team is the last thing he would want, Kane is our number one, he's earned it we simply need another young talented player to push him and fill in when required.

In general I agree. For example with the likes of Maddison. However in this case I feel Dembélé could have a big contribution for us between now and the end of the season. For example coming on as a sub towards the end of matches (we'd have an actual centre forward to bring on!) or to start in the odd Europa tie. His being cup tied for the FA Cup is unfortunate, but no more than that. In this case I feeI, if Fulham could be persuaded, an immediate transfer would be ideal, and certainly wouldn't be of detriment to Mini-Moussa's development.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see the scoring of goals as being the absolute job of any striker we need. We need someone who constantly pulls and keeps defenders occupied - chases, links and moves. It's all part of the team dynamics. Of course it would be fantastic if this player scores a bucketload, but it's more important that they work in the team structure imo. A fair share would of course be acceptable. Last night HK came on and was a threat and helped contribute to us winning that game - he didn't score but was a menace to their team and helped link up well. Got to be the right fit.

You mean Soldado like?

Well yeah, I'm working on the assumption that we won't be buying two strikers. Getting one is hard enough for us!

Yeah, what is it with us and strikers?!!!! You'd think they weren't all that important!!!

Strikers always cost more ( for various reasons) and don't necessarily offer true "pound for pound" value which is why I believe we struggle to sign them.

Not with Levy. The only player where we lost a lot is Bentley

I don't care about Poch thinks. This is a message board, and I'm giving my opinion. I trust him, but that doesn't mean I won't say what I think it's best. You can't just accept everything he does as if he was unable to get it wrong.

The difference here is ambition. You are happy with accepting things and getting a 4th spot. I want the title.
