Of all the 'sugar daddies' only Randy Lerner, Abramovic and Gudmundsson have a genuine interest in football, and only Lerner a genuine affection for the club he bought—he became a Villa fan whilst he was at Cambridge in the 80s, I believe. And Lerner isn't particularly rich by sugar daddy standards, a mere £800m or so.

I spoke to my brother-in-law last night and he and just about every other City fan are really worried about Frank Shinawatra's antics. They are rightly concerned that after the way Sven's been treated no decent manager is going to touch City with a bargepole (unless they're mainly interested in a big compensation package); not only that, he fears that there may be a major player exodus. It's pretty clear that on top of being a crook and a probable accessory to mass murder, Shinawatra knows bugger all about football.

Frankly, if our ability to break into the top four and CL is dependent on signing a pact with the devil, then I'd rather not know about it. Not only will be mortgaging our future to seriously iffy loans, as with United, there's also the not-too-improbable scenario of our benefactor getting thrown into the chokey or whacked. God knows, I've been very critical of Levy on several fronts, but not on his ability to run the club as a stable and successful business.

You and I both. I totally agree.

Btw I didn't know Lerner became a Villa fan back in the 1980s. I'm now marginally less cynical than I was an hour ago...

There are a few guys who are in it for their love of football and the community . Our guys flyboy mate at Newcastle
on the first count and Dave Whelan on both .

Frank Shinawatra could lead them in a redition of Blue Moon .

It's crazy to think how many crooks are being attracted to the Premiership; you can also add Usmanov if he manages to get his chubby fingers on Arsenal.

Give it 10 years, and you'll have an assortment of gangsters, warlords, dictators and miscellaneous deviants running the 20 Premiership clubs.

The off-the-pitch antics inbetween matches would be interesting; extortion, kidnapp, murder, GBH, drug dealing, sex scandals. Hmm, on second thoughts it sounds like the Premiership of today.

with the commercial brains we have in the club we will not do a leeds. i have been told that the club is looking to india for commercial ventures that will help the club's balance sheet. the lads that are in charge are v clever & astute and will ensure the clubs future is secure
