I do think he has a lot to offer potentially, however I don't think we will get this by playing him at LW, in the same way we will never get the best out of Jan by sticking him at LB. He doesn't look natural playing there and doesn't ever seem to have the space to carry the ball

Chadli's actual ball control and his ability to keep possession is fantastic, but he lacks the pace to beat the full back, and his shooting needs to improve to play at LW, definitely feel that his best performances came at CM last year...

Wouldn't want to see him go for cash alone, would only be okay with the deal if it somehow involves Mertens or Insigne or even that lad Callejon, would prefer Mertens for the Belgian links as well as being more physically suited for the PL though.

We have so many players in the squad, we are in the enviable position of being able to reshape the squad without making a loss. Poch will obviously want to bring in some players to suit his style, so if he wants to sell any of last summer's 7 then so be it (except for Erik of course, who would appear to have more upside than any of the others).
One cannot sell everyone one would like. Selling plenty may cause as much of an unbalance as buying plenty. Additionally, we have just as long (as many competitions) a season now as last season, which was partially ruined by injuries. And we've just invested pounds, time and patience in easing those 7 into a life in the PL. This PL-experience everyone keep talking about, the have that now. At least far more then what they had 12 months ago, so let's see where that takes us. Unless undeniable offers arrive I'd keep all the lastest signings one more year, and sell as few as possible.

You're quite right we can't sell everyone we would like, and typically the players you want to get rid of nobody else wants. But this thread was started as there seems to be some interest in Nacer. I'm not advocating taking a loss on him, but Poch supposedly wants 4 players if some of the ITK is to be believed. We can't just add 4 players to the squad, there needs to be some outs as well............

Yes, indeed. Some players we do need to sell. I would merely like to see the 7 from last summer 1 more season, including Chadli.

For 15 minutes in that second half against Benfica in Portugal he looked absolute dynamite. That's his ceiling - but he invariably has stayed in the basement so far for us.

Still think he's got something personally

I agree all 7 should have benefitted from their first year experience in the premier league, and in theory should improve. On the subject of Chadli specifically though, having watched his performance in Belgium's first match of the World Cup, I was so disappointed. I was really hoping that we would see something from him, away from the Premier League, in the comfort of his national side where he has been relatively established. Instead we saw a performance which was much in keeping with his premier league performances last season. He certainly has attributes but somebody needs to light a fire under his ass!

I would hope that another season at the club would benefit him - but I'm not actually sure he is all that

Had a disappointing WC and the fact that he can play in a number of positions actually appears to be a hindrance.

That's true, he failed to impress in WC. However, so did every Spurs-player (save Lloris) and some Spurs-targets, such as Lukaku. Chadli wan't great last season, but I believe there is something in him worth keeping around. The real problem I see in keeping all 7, is that the alternatives who could be up for sale are vastly home-growns. :arghh:

With Jay, probably, coming in it seems almost inevitable another AM will go. I imagine both Chadli and Falqué will be sold. To be honest, I would rather give Chadli some time under Poch before moving for Jay but that deal seems to be all but done.

Capoue would be absolutely baffling.

It keeps coming up, but I just don't know why. He only had stinkers at CB and barely played under Sherwood. I can't see how or why an incoming manager like Poch would come in and single out someone like Capoue as being someone he doesn't want. He's tidy, athletic and hasn't nearly had close to a decent opportunity to shine yet due to injury and Sherwood.

Chadli is slighty different because Pochettino will have seen him play for us a bit I'm sure. But to say he "doesn't seem to rate him" when he's not even reported back for pre-season is a bit far fetched.

I see Chadli as a frustrating player. Really struggle to see that changing despite our new manager, proposed new systems and style etc.

I'd much rather sell Lennon before Chadli. We've yet to even come close to seeing the best of Chadli, someone who scored 18 goals the season before last. Lennon has 15 goals in the last 5 seasons combined. I know different league etc but still, seen far too many false dawns for Lennon. If we're playing Capoue and Schneiderlin we need goal threat from the other players which Lennon doesn't offer but I think an improved Chadli will.
